Virtually every product today has a service component to it. The old dichotomy between product and service has been replaced by a service-product continuum. Many products are being transformed into services.

what is it? What do you buy ?

1.  services with the product 1.  product related (i.e. financial) 2.  advice, consultancy

2.  use of the product 1.  leasing 2.  renting 3.  pooling

3.  result delivered by the product 1.  activity outsourcing 2.  functional result 3.  ‘pay per unit’

•  If there’s no legal take back obligation, there must be a good ‘business reason why’ for it.
