Find out who will be there: employersmust register for the internship fair. Be

sure to look at the list before you go.

Research the companies: Once you haveviewed the list of employers, researchthe companies you like most. Jot down

potential talking points for eachcompany.

Make an action plan: You do not havetime to talk to everyone. Make a list. Inone list have the companies you must

visit and in a second list have thecompanies you will visit if you have time

left.

Arrive early: This will allow you moretime to attend the fair. Be sure to have

your student ID ready for a speedycheck in.

Bring resumes, notebook and pen:Make sure to have copies of your

resume. You will also want a notebookwith your talking points and questions.Have a pen handy to keep notes on the

companies.

Dress the part: Wear businessprofessional attire. This is your chance

for on the spot interviews. You wouldn’tshow up for an interview in jeans (or at

least we hope not).

Have a smile: As little orphanAnnie said, “You’re never fully

dressed without a smile.”

Network: Be sure to talk to everyone,even the attendees. Make sure to get

business cards and information on thecompanies you are interested in.

Listen: If you are unable to talk to anemployer right away, listen to what theyare saying. This will stop you for askinga question that was already answered.

It might also give you more topics todiscuss further.

Ask questions: Ask the questions youhave already prepared. However, be

sure not to ask questions that can befound on their webpage. Doing so will

show you never did the research.

Have an elevator pitch ready: You have alot of companies to impress and not a

lot of time. Have a 30 second pitchready to tell employers why they need

you on their team.

Follow up: Send thank you emails oreven hand written cards thanking them

for their time.
