Here are some tips on how to get the most out of an internship fair:

Learn the Names of Employers Who Will be AttendingCheck out the list of the participating employers, and do some research. A little advance preparation goes a long way and can make you stand out among the other attendees.

About Your Resume Employers are interested in different types of skills so you may want to develop several versions of your resume each one tailored to different internship choices. Don’t just drop your resume on employers’ display tables. Try to get it into a person’s hands, introduce yourself, and engage in conversation.

Know What You Are Going to Say to Each EmployerYou may only have 15 to 20 seconds to present your qualifications to each employer, so think carefully about what you want to cover and how best to say it. You can use the same spiel for all employers or vary it depending upon their recruiting needs. You may be asked if you have any questions and it pays to have one or two good questions ready for each employer.

Plan for Follow-upKeep track of recruiters with whom you speak and send follow-up notes and another copy of your resume to the ones who interest you.
