Safety solutions using AS-iSafety interfaces

Operating principleSafety is incorporated into the AS-i system by adding a monitor and safety interfacesconnected together with other standard AS-i components to the yellow cable. Safety information is only exchanged between the monitor and the safety interfaces.This is transparent for the other standard AS-i components. Based on this principle,already installed AS-i systems can be updated with safety functions without havingto replace the existing components (e.g. masters, input/output interfaces, powersupplies, etc.). Safety circuits are diagnosed readily and with no additional wiring bythe standard AS-i master communicating with the safety monitor via the yellow cable.
