We want a SmartBoard
It is a proven way to engage students Addresses different learning styles Encourages active participation
BUT….
Costs for a SmartBoard with software can be over $2000 and the request for one was denied last year.
The Problem
The demographic for Sundance Elementary School in Rancho Penasquitos is too wealthy to qualify for Title I funding, but on the lower end of the socio-economic scale, so parents are not large contributors, therefore our technology budget is limited.

Project Takeaways
There are lots of interactive whiteboard and accessory options--many you can make out of less expensive equipment
The technology alone does not achieve results, the user must be trained to fully implement interactive whiteboards
Creating a grant proposal forces participants to examine a project from many aspects, determine value and think long-term
