• Based upon 11 m2 norm per person .

Brief to BiddersStaff accommodation will, in general, provide:• Desk space for staff with associated IT and telephony• Hot desking for visiting staff and part time employees• Suitable safe storage for staff belongings and paperwork• Break out collaborative work spaces• Spaces for quiet working and private phone calls• A kitchenette or suitable area for tea making/ lunch spaces• Spaces for meeting with students or visitors• Confidential meeting space • Provide space for Large formal meetings (Exam Boards,

Validation Events, Staff Meetings)• An area for public access, drop in services• A means to identify the school/schools occupying a cluster

• Preparation of Lecture materials (this process may require concentrated study)• Exam preparation and Marking (there is need for sufficient privacy to preserve the confidentiality

of this process)• Compilation of QA documentation, new programme documentation, committee reports etc• Providing student references, confidential reports etc• Correspondence with other academics, external examiners, journals• Some staff are involved in start up campus companies or consultancy activities that may be

confidential • Correspondence with industrial partners, contract researchers etc This may be commercially

sensitive• Research Grant writing, research reports • Preparation of materials for publication• Attendance at meetings at programme and School and College level• Informal interaction is a highly desirable objective for academic workspace. However, it is

important that this does not clash with the need for concentrated work. The desk area should not be unduly noisy.
