Dear Readers,

Greetings and a warm welcome to July- December, 2016 issue of our newsletter, “Jigyasa”, which serves as one of the imperative communication channels between IITM and its major stakeholders. Jigyasa presents an overview of all the activities and the events organized in the campus during the above stated period. In this issue, we look at the past and the future as our catalogue of activities unfolds itself. To Begin with, we welcome our new 2016 batch students with pride, enthusiasm and exuberance. It has ended with biding adieu to the year 2016. The previous semester witnessed various ecstatic moments as our students achieved prominence in diversified fields and brought laurels to the Institute. We are looking forward to the forthcoming semester with same ecstasy and earnest commitment.

Best wishesEditorial Board

Knowledge – A fluid mix of experience, value, contextual information and expert insight provides the framework for evaluating and incorporating new experiences and information. It originates and is applied in the minds of knowers. In organizations, it often becomes embedded not only in documents or repositories, but also in organizational routines, processes, practices and norms true to this sense. This issue of JIGYASA brings to you an account of the events and activities that took place at the Institution, bringing to me a feeling of fruition of the events and programs envisioned in the earlier semester. Indeed, there is so much to share and feel proud of. The panoramic glimpses of the vibrant and fecund events are entwined into its pages which speak themselves for the thrust, learning dimensions and developments that took place in the semester gone by. The very objective of education at IITM is to stimulate the thinking process so that the students and other stakeholders form independent views to take emancipated and virtuous decisions discriminating between right and wrong. We take our teaching profession as a social responsibility, contributing our entire mite to build a new vibrant India. I am very expectant that the Institute – the faculty, staff and students, as a whole, shall constantly strive for more and more excellence in every field they explore in the sundry realms of life.

Jigyasa which embodies cognizance and awareness is coming up with yet another issue. It astounds a feeling of inquisitiveness and delves deep into ethos of higher education. Symbolizing the intrinsic spirit, the Institution aims to impart and promote value based quality education in emerging areas of professional studies and attempting, in all earnestness, to touch the pinnacles of academic excellence. IITM family acknowledges that education is an ongoing and interactive process which is not confined to the Institute only but also in excogitation through recreational activities, community and social services. It is good news for the IITM fraternity that the Institution has progressed in terms of its national accreditation, curriculum enrichment, infrastructure upgradation, software program enhancements, students and faculty exchange programs, guest lectures, interactions with industry and developmental programmes, the mainstay for any incremental process. Preceding semester enlists various Management and Information Technology workshops and seminars. This semester we are heading towards National Board of Accreditation (NBA) accreditation for our MBA programme, thereby further strengthening our endeavors towards quality education and academic excellence. It is a feeling of immense pleasure and pride for me to release another issue of JIGYASA. This newsletter intends to emphasize upon the changing paradigm that strengthens the bond amongst education, research and community services. Though we feel proud of our accomplishments; we still have to facilitate practices that will ultimately lead to the development of innovative approaches towards teaching and learning and foster intellectual development of students and educators. It will be our utmost endeavor to maintain and sustain the trajectory of growth of our Institute.
