WIRING REQUIREMENTS FOR DOMESTIC ELECTRIC FANS Wall and ceiling mounted fans for fixed wiring should be connected to the power supply via a cable with solid connectors of 1 to 1.5mm 2 only. It is recommended that fans be connected into the lighting circuit, with double pole (3mm) isolation, provided before the room light switch and suitably fused in accordance with I.E.E. Regulations. IF IN DOUBT, CONSULT A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN Installation Instructions For DVF801 and DVF802 Shower Fans 6. CONNECTING THE DUCTING (GENERAL) 6.1 Place a batten across two ceiling joists (diagram F). This will lift the fan above the ducting so than condensation/ water will not collect in the fan. 6.2 Attach fan to batten. 6.3 Attach ducting from shower cubicle to the pointed end of the fan with plastic clip. 7. VENTILATING THROUGH SOFFIT 7.1 If ducting is to exit via the soffit cut a 114mm (4 1 /2”) dia. hole in soffit. 7.2 Carefully push centre of grille and using screw holes as a template, mark and drill holes for screws provided (Diagram B). 7.3 Push ducting through hole. 7.4 Attach ducting to the rear of the grille plate with plastic clip. Screw grille plate to soffit. Replace grille centre. 8. VENTILATING THROUGH WALL 8.1 If ducting is to exit via the outside wall, locate position, cut a 114mm (4 1 /2”) dia. hole through wall. 8.2 Carefully push out centre of grille and using screw holes as a template, mark and drill holes for plugs and screws provided (Diagram B). 8.3 Push ducting through hole. 8.4 Attach ducting to the rear of the grille plate with plastic clip, checking that the grille is the correct way up (Diagram G). Screw grille plate to wall. You may wish to use a weather sealant around the edge of the grille. THE INSTALLATION IS NOW COMPLETE. REPLACE FUSES AND SWITCH ON POWER SUPPLY. PLEASE READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE ATTEMPTING INSTALLATION AND RETAIN THIS SHEET FOR FUTURE REFERENCE. IF THIS UNIT IS BEING PROFESSIONALLY INSTALLED, PLEASE LEAVE THIS INSTRUCTION LEAFLET WITH YOUR CUSTOMER.

NOTE: BEFORE CONNECTING DUCTING TO VENTILATE THROUGH EITHER WALL OR SOFFIT CARRY OUT THE ELECTRICAL WIRING AS FOLLOWS :

3. MODEL WITHOUT TIMER - DVF 8013.1 Installed a fused 3 amp double

pole isolator spur box in the power supply. This should be located in a suitable position near the Fan.

3.2 Unscrew the wiring compartment cover (Diagram C).

3.3 Using 2-core cable, connect the wires to the correct terminals (Diagram D). as follows :

Brown to ‘L’ (LIVE).

Blue to ‘N’ (NEUTRAL).

3.4 Remove screws from the cable clamps and position.

3.5 When wiring is completed, it is the responsibility of the installer to ensure that the cable entry grommet is adequately sealed to maintain the integrity of the product’s protection rating.

4. MODEL WITH TIMER - DVF 802Note: This model is designed to operate

when the light is switched on.

4.1 and 4.2 see 3.1 & 3.2 above.

4.3 Using a cable of not less than 5 Amps capacity, connect the wire to the correct terminals (Diagram E) as follows:

Brown to ‘L’ (LIVE).

Blue to ‘N’ (NEUTRAL).

Switch to ‘SL’

(iii) THE FAN IS SUPPLIED COMPLETE WITH 2 FIXED GRILLES, PLASTIC CLIPS & DUCTING.

(iv) THERE ARE TWO METHODS OF VENTILATING A SHOWER CUBICLE OR BATH AREA, THE FIRST VIA THE SOFFIT, THE SECOND THROUGH THE WALL REFER TO DIAGRAM A.

(v) THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS APPLY TO ALL MODELS EXCEPT WHERE STATED.

1 Identify the location for ceiling grille being careful to avoid ceiling joists. This is best done from above. Cut a 114mm (41/2”) dia. hole in required position. Carefully push out centre of grille and using screw holes as a template, mark and drill holes for screws. (diagram B).

2. Attach ducting to the rear of the ceiling plate with plastic clip. Push ducting into hole in the ceiling. Screw ceiling plate to ceiling. Replace centre grille.

NOTE:(i) THE SHOWER FAN PACK HAS BEEN SPECIALLY

DESIGNED TO VENTILATE SAFELY A SHOWER CUBICLE, SHOWER AREA OR AREA OVER A BATH. WALL OR WINDOW FANS SHOULD NOT BE INSTALLED IN THESE AREAS.

(ii) THE SHOWER FAN PACK MUST ONLY BE INSTALLED WHERE THE ROOM TEMPERATURE IS LESS THAN 40ºC.

EARTH CABLE AS A SWITCH LIVE.(ii) USE THE LIVE WIRE FROM ANOTHER

LENGTH OF CABLE TO CONNECT THE SWITCH LIVE.

5. ADJUSTING THE TIMER The timer is adjustable between 1 and

25 minutes approximately. If you wish to adjust the run-on time proceed as follows:

5.1 Isolate fan from power supply.

5.2 Remove ducting and wiring compartment cover.

5.3 Insert a suitable screwdriver into the hole marked ‘TIMER’. Turn clockwise to increase run-on time.

5.4 Replace cover and ducting.

5.5 See 3.5.

WARNING: ISOLATE ELECTRICITY SUPPLY BEFORE STARTING WORK
