Survey on information literacy programmes (2007/08)

University of Ljubljana – survey 2008

Observations:

A lot of respondents assumed that IL is the same as

computer/digital literacy

Most of the training IL programmes did not cover all IL

competences

Variations of IL programmes:

o optional or. mandate IL courses

o Integrative approach

o IL training organized by a library (optional for students)

Slovenian standards, 2010

Expert meeting INFORMATION LITERACY IN HIGHER EDUCATION, 2011 Proposals to:

include IL competencies in Slovenian qualification framework

include IL in strategic documents (national level, universities,

faculties), in evaluation and quality assurance criteria, in

pedagogy excelence criteria

develop strategic partnerships between actors in higher

education

promote IL in curriculum development, in implementation

and evaluation of study programmes

develop and strenghten training of trainers

develop and share good practices of IL programmes and

study materials

promote IL among different publics

Problems = opportunities

How to make the university and financial authorities more responsive to the IL development proposals?

How to develop startegic partnerships between all

actors in the study process?

Professional role of academic librarians?
