• It can be classified on the basis of the things transported. There are passenger trains that carry people and freight trains that carry goods.
• Based on gauge it can be divided into:Narrowgauge, broad gauge and metro gauge.

New Delhi-Bhopal Shatabdi Express is the fastest train in India. The all air-conditioned superfast train clocks a maximum speed of 150km/h on the Faridabad-Agra section.Vivek Express, which runs between Dibrugarh and Kanyakumari, has the longest route in India. It covers 4,286 km in about 82 hours and 30 minutes.
The Konkan Railway is an important train line which connects India’s economic capital, Mumbai and Manglore. It runs through Maharastra, Karnataka and Goa covering 760 kilometers.Trains goes through a very beautiful scenic terrain and there is awesome concept used behind building of railway tunnels of konkan Railway.
