Problems are an inevitable part of life and this world . We, at JSSP take every problem as a gift in our hands…. an opportunity to explore, innovate and create. Off we set ….looking for such problem areas in the school because charity starts at home ….. We talked to our teachers & junior students…….We feel that quality education can lead not only to solution of many problems but can also change life of many people.

c

What we feel….

Page 5: IND-2012-46 Jusco School South Park - Waste Wonders

……some students told us about their friends bullying them …We sorted out the matter through an open discussion.

c

What we feel….

Page 6: IND-2012-46 Jusco School South Park - Waste Wonders

…some were annoyed with their friends fighting during the break …students bringing flashy things to school …and using abusive language …We held a meeting with the student’s cabinet & safe club and arrived on a mutual consensus of ‘Duties’ during the break…..

c

What we feel….

Page 7: IND-2012-46 Jusco School South Park - Waste Wonders

But there was one very intelligent student , Akshit , who had a different kind of problem ….he had a problem in understanding one of the concepts in Science ‘direct proportionality between time period & length of pendulum’ …..

What we feel….

Page 8: IND-2012-46 Jusco School South Park - Waste Wonders

Investigating further into the problem , we came to know that it was not only Akshit’s problem ….it was the problem of his classmates too…not only this the other students in Std. VI – X were finding it difficult to understand the heavyweight concepts in Science …

What we feel….

Page 9: IND-2012-46 Jusco School South Park - Waste Wonders

…..one of our own classmate was struggling to understand the “ Double Helical Structure of DNA” …..we were now really concerned about it….

What we feel….

Page 10: IND-2012-46 Jusco School South Park - Waste Wonders

Science is the basis for reasoning & provides solution to problems…What if Science itself starts posing a problem ? This problem is really serious and grave as it would affect the lifelong learning of students …

c

What we feel….

Page 11: IND-2012-46 Jusco School South Park - Waste Wonders

..We thought to approach our Science Teacher, Coordinator & Principal ……. We fixed up a meeting with them…

c

What we imagine….

Page 12: IND-2012-46 Jusco School South Park - Waste Wonders

There was a lot of discussion & brainstorming ….and

then our Principal Ma’am gave us an idea… Why not create a science park ? The idea was brilliant but was it really possible ???

What we imagine….

Page 13: IND-2012-46 Jusco School South Park - Waste Wonders

…….we were clear about our goals but we did not

know how to do it ...... yet the most important thing was that we were determined to do it !!!

We will do it !!!

What we imagine….

Page 14: IND-2012-46 Jusco School South Park - Waste Wonders

…..We wanted to create a Science park where students develop the tendency to learn Science in a play –way method …..

What we imagine….

Page 15: IND-2012-46 Jusco School South Park - Waste Wonders

…..JSSP is blessed with an excellent infrastructure…wide lush green ground where this park could be created … but we needed the raw material for creating this park …..We started looking for alternatives …..

What we imagine….

Buy Science equipments from

a branded agency

Use the models

prepared during

Science Exhibition

Hiring a specialist for designing the park.

Create durable & robust science equipments using locally available

material

COST VERY HIGH !

NOT DURABLE !NOT AVAILABLE LOCALLY!

EXPLORING VARIOUS ALTERNATIVES

Page 17: IND-2012-46 Jusco School South Park - Waste Wonders

Again our Principal Ma’am showed us the way …. She had observed junk material present in a JUSCO Junkyard which was lying useless for past many years……. The junk could be used to create gadgets…if used meaningfully…

The Breakthrough Idea….

Page 18: IND-2012-46 Jusco School South Park - Waste Wonders

We surveyed the junkyard & consulted our Science teacher …Finally we were able to chalk out a plan for the same …… and that’s how we

moved on towards our story of change …

What we imagine….

What did we save ?

• Market price of one readymade gadget – 15,000 • No. of gadgets in science park – 10• Total market price - 1,50,000 • Total amount of money spent in developing science park =

Welding charges + Cost of paint = 10,000• Amount of money saved – 1,50,000 - 10 ,000 = 1,40,000

The Road Not Takenby: Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel bothAnd be one traveler, long I stood

And looked down one as far as I couldTo where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim,

Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that passing there

Had worn them really about the same, And both that morning equally lay

In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads to way,

I doubted if I should ever come back. Somewhere ages and ages hence:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I -I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.
