Message from our community and lifestyle managerIn touch | North Bucks Newsletter | Summer 2019

All working togetherI have been so impressed with all the displays of friendship and teamwork throughout the services over the past few months, it has been truly lovely to see.

Resident Pauline (pictured above) has become a Bedside Buddy at Fremantle Court, helping others adjust to life in the home and visiting those that are unable to attend activity sessions. Sheila presented her with a gorgeous plant as a thank you to celebrate National Friendship Day.

This year’s Fremantle in Bloom was another greatsuccess and I have been overwhelmed with the beautiful gardens everywhere. Many of you contributed by painting furniture, planting and watering new blooms and keeping on top of maintenance to make sure the gardens looked tip-top. Well done and thank you for your hard work.

Lent Rise House held a very successful fine dining evening to welcome members of the local community into the home. Thanks to Jude Watts, our development chef and the entire kitchen team for delivering a delicious meal. Hopefully this will be the first of many fine dining events.

Until next time,

Getting involvedIt is fantastic to see more and more residents getting involved with what’s going on within their homes.

We’ve had people volunteering to be Bedside Buddies for fellow residents, people teaching others how to knit and residents helping with the recruitment process for new team members.

There are lots of ways you can join in, such as:

- Give a presentation on your favourite topic- Run a cookery session- Start a poetry group- Become a Bedside Buddy- Teach others how to play an instrument- Start a dance club

To see how you can get more involved and share your ideas, speak to your activity co-ordinator or Sue Faulkner.

Marvellous museumA group of friends from Icknield Court had a fantastic time at Wycombe Museum.

The museum is famous for its chair collection, which includes Windsor chairs from the 18th to the 20th Century.

With plenty of interesting historic memorabilia, the group couldn’t resist trying on some of the costumes from years gone by.
