What are the general program prerequisites? In 2019, both College for Kids and Kids on Campus will run simultaneously for one week.• College for Kids (CFKD-### courses) is offered by St. Louis

Community College Continuing Education for gifted and talented elementary and middle school youth who have completed kindergarten through eighth grades. Courses offered are designed to challenge and advance a student’s skills. Children must meet gifted qualifications to attend CFKD classes. The program is designed especially for students currently enrolled in a program for gifted children at their own schools, those who have consistently scored in the 95th percentile or above on standardized tests or whose IQ has been determined to be 125 or above on an individualized IQ test.

To enroll in any CFKD-### course, at the time of registration, please submit proof of giftedness. The following items may be submitted: - a copy of the student’s most recent standardized test results or- the result of an individually administered IQ test or - completed certification form (on registration form) signed by the student’s teacher.

If we have IQ scores or proof of student enrollment in a school’s gifted program on file, you do not need to resubmit documentation.

College for Kids students may attend either College for Kids (CFKD) classes or Kids on Campus (CAMP) classes.

• Kids on Campus (CAMP-### courses) is an open-enrollment, enrichment program for youth who have completed kindergarten through eighth grades. No gifted certification is required to attend these classes.

Please note that all of the following information applies to both programs unless otherwise noted.

Where and when do classes meet?Classes meet August 5-9 on the Meramec campus located at 11333 Big Bend Road, St. Louis, MO 63122. Upon arrival each morning, escort your child to the Lecture Hall in order to check them in.

How long are classes?Most classes are 1 hour and 10 minutes in length. Time blocks are: • Early AM: 8-8:50 a.m.• AM-a: 9-10:10 a.m.• AM-b: 10:25-11:35 a.m.• Sack Lunch Break • PM-a: 12:30-1:40 p.m.• PM-b: 1:55-3:10 p.m.• Late PM: 3:30-5 p.m.

AM-a/b and PM-a/b classes will be held over two time blocks with a ten minute break.

What about lunch? Please send a sack lunch with your child as the campus cafeteria will be closed. A structured lunch-break will be provided between the morning and afternoon sessions. Students must remain in the lecture hall during this time and cannot be temporarily checked out of the program for lunch. Please consider that students must carry their lunches with them throughout the day; pack accordingly. Because lunches are being brought from home, we cannot guarantee an allergy-free environment.

What if I need to withdraw my child? Will I receive a refund?Students who register and must later withdraw must do so in writing. Email withdrawal request to [email protected]. Any refund given will be based upon the date of receipt of written withdrawal by the Continuing Education office. You will receive a full refund if the withdrawal is on or before July 5, 2019. No refunds will be permitted after this date unless the College has canceled a class.

How many students are in the classes? In general, maximum enrollment is 16 students per class. The College reserves the right to cancel any class that does not have at least eight students. Those in canceled classes will be notified no later than one week prior to the first day of class. Students in canceled classes will receive a refund if no suitable substitute class can be found.

How will my child know their schedule? After reporting to the check-in desk on the first day of class, students will be issued a name tag with their complete schedule for the week printed on it.

Why must they wear their name tag every day?It is critical that your child bring their name tag back every single day. This is our only way of identifying your child in an emergency.

What about check-in and check-out each day?All children under the age of 16 who are enrolled in programs through St. Louis Community College Continuing Education must be accompanied to and signed in at the beginning of each program session at the main College for Kids desk in the Lecture Hall building. Only contacts listed on your registration form are considered approved for pick-up and must provide a photo ID each day when signing students out. Appropriate behavior is expected. Students must adhere to the Rules and Code of Conduct.

Special AccommodationsIf the registrant is a person with a disability who requires an accommodation in order to participate in College For Kids & Kids On Campus summer youth experience, please email [email protected] as soon as possible in advance of the program for consideration of your accommodations request. It is helpful to receive requests at least 10 days in advance of a program; with less advance notice, it may be difficult to meet needs of interested members.
