Organizer: Mecseki Fotoklub Pecs Hungary

The first university in Hungary was established by Louis the Great in Pécs in 1367: 650 years ago. The choice of the location was not a chance, since according to Pope Urban V, “Pécs is particularly suitable for disseminating the seeds of science”. Pécs is a 2000-year-old town, as a part of the Roman Empire was named as „Sopianae”.

Hungary and the University of Pécs celebrate the anniversary of the birth of Hungarian higher education with a series of programmes. Sopianae Int’l Photo Salon, called into being last year. Our aim is to add colour to the series of events celebrating 650 years of existence by an international photo contest and exhibition.
