Images that were used This is the photo that I used for my front cover. A close-up of the main artist’s face is a conventional way to present a front cover of a music magazine of this genre, I found this out during the research part of this production. It gets up close and personal with the artist who the main story is about, and the interview with him does exactly that. This photo was used for my contents page. The model’s body language connotes being confrontational as if he has nothing to hide. This is because the story about him on the contents page is about an interview with him. As he is one of two images that are seen on the contents page, he stands out amongst everything else, drawing attention to him as the main story of the magazine. This photo was also used in the contents page for the image that links with the secondary story of the magazine. This model’s story is that he has been accused of stealing lyrics; the positioning connotes that of a prison mug- shot and his facial expression shows him trying to keep his dignity while remaining tough-looking. This photo is the main image of the double page spread right next to the interview of him. The long shot varies the use of shots throughout the magazine rather than only having one type of shot repeated over and over again. His hands on his hat connote confidence, which is exactly what the model’s character is trying to portray while the smile shows that he’s a friendly guy rather than going for the stereotypical ‘tough guy’ look. This photo was used in the corner of the double page spread next to the interview. This gives the reader a feeling that he is there while they are reading the interview, creating a link between the image and the words coming out of his mouth; almost bringing him to life in the reader’s mind. The humbling smile subverts the conventional

This is the photo that I used for my front cover.

This model’s story is that he has been accused of stealing lyrics; the positioning connotes that of a prison mug-shot and his facial expression shows him trying to keep his dignity while remaining tough-looking.

The humbling smile subverts the conventional poses that artists of this genre usually do, presenting him as different and making him stand out.
