Page 2: Ideas for Advertisements

1. - I was thinking of having a white background with a man who is called a beefeater. The main would have a confused face when holding the Irn Bru.- The character would be in the centre, it would be quite big so it shows the detail in what he is wearing and his facial expression.- I would use the catch phrase ‘drink up, not tea, Irn Bru 32’. The man would be holding Irn Bru whilst the cup of tea is flying in the background. This highlights British culture and would catch the attention of the British public instead of the Scottish. - Even though it’s not good to make fun of a certain culture, I believe the target audience for Irn Bru would agree that it would be funny. -Inspirited by this advert, having it simple and clean makes the message go across better. The font will be big and orange across the bottom and the Irn Bru drink will be at the bottom right. - The mans uniform will be the original colour red, and the big black hat will be the same also.

-I would have multiple adverts that go with this theme of having different characters in the centre of the poster, there would be people will different ages. There will be one man dressed as a solider (above) and then another advert that's exactly the same but has a younger boy who shows of the Irn Bru product. When there is an advert with different characters it will show a similarity to the public and they will recognise that each character is different and that anyone can drink this product. I think each character will have a different slogan so that it fits the character which is fun and quirky.

- Could have the union jack flag in the background but the colours would be orange, blue and white instead of the original colours. This sticks to the colour theme of the Irn Bru product but also adds to British culture into it as well.

- The font will be white so that it in clear on the page and doesn’t clash with anything else. The font will also be large and bold like a strong title that people would automatically look at.

- The phrase used would be ‘Grumpy? Be happy and you, drink Irn Bru 32’ this is catchy fun for the public to read and catch on, I didn’t want to be to funny or extravagant as that might end up offensive for the ASA. Which would raise awareness on the wrong level.

- Got Inspiration of the ‘Keep Calm and Carry On’ slogan that is used that English people love and use all the time. It is mainly used in London which is the main capital, if Irn Bru links with this then they can connect to the English people.

- By having one advert that is the same will help people to recognise it straight away which is important. - The English public take pride in there flag so it will catch a mainstream audience.

3. - Office scene, where people from different genders work together, this has a lot of papers and

computers on the image. Whilst showing this there will be the Irn Bru 32 product on each table which shows of the product.

- The image will be a typical office scene that English people our used to especially in cities which will show the product the most.

- The slogan for the product would be ‘Irn Bru 32, keeps you going’ this shows that people will have energy when still working in an office. It links with a lot of people in normal day life which will be a good advertisement.

- The people will be in smart clothing, mostly black and grey this is because the product is bright whilst will help the drink to stand out on the image. The more it stands out the more attention it will receive.

- I will put slogan at the top of the page and it will be white or blue which links with the colour scheme, the font will be similar to what they already use, quite quirky and youthful.

- This was inspiration from a lynx advert, they said that if you use this product then people will be attracted to you, instead of having an attractive man, the advert would have a chubby man. This makes it different and quirky for the audience. In the background there would be women chasing after him, this would give a comedy take on the lynx advert. It would be different and opposite to what it normally would be, it would give people more confidence and it would stick up for people that are over weight. English people would take to this as it’s typical English humour that people will easily understand.

- I would use a slogan that said “women want the D ‘rink’ this tells two stories that it’s a funny sexual comment but them tricking them into actually saying it means drink. This is what Irn Bru have used in the past which has made them funny and successful.

- This will be on a street background so it looks like day to day life.

- The drink and title would be at the centre top of the advert and the chase will be horizontal across the advert which leaves room for the product and slogan.

- The fact that it is Christmas soon, I thought of an idea where Santa is sitting on a bench with his slay in the background, except he looks tired and sick of sending presents all around the world. Instead he is in an orange Santa outfit instead of red, this sticks with the colour scheme and makes it link towards the product. - The slogan for the advert would be ‘need a break’ which takes it of the kick-kat advert that is ‘take a break’ this makes the advert look funny as it’s stealing a catch phrase and that it has humour towards it. - Also thinking of having Santa smiling on another side of the advert because he has taken the drink and that he can travel the world with his energy drink. It fits with the season and it would compete well with the coco-cola advert that’s on every year for Christmas.- The background will be snowing and it would look like he was in central park, New York, this would give a Christmas feel towards the public but adding some comedy towards it. - The product would be large on the left hand side of the ad so people can see the product before they understand the advertisement.

- An UFO is hovering above the Irn Bru bottle, this makes it look magically and quite youthful because people love to believe in Aliens.

- The background will be completely black and it would only show green lights coming from the UFO, this makes the Irn Bru bottle hover. The makes the product look new and inventive like it was created by aliens.

- Slogan: ‘save it for you, Irn Bru 32’ this rhymes and works well with the UFO theme, the target audience for Irn Bru has quite a big age range so to go for something that is quite masculine will fit with the mainstream media but it’s like a fantasy that everyone likes.

- The layout would be in a big cartoon effect except for the product, this makes it look like a comic book and gives more focus towards the product. The Irn Bru product will be really large so that the public can see what drink it is before they buy it, the bright colours will stand out and really fit with the theme.

- For the UFO colours I’m trying to make them less bold so the product can stand out, the colours might be light reds, and light blues so that it doesn’t take the attention away from the drink.

- The message for this advert is really clear and gives a fun element instead of being funny, it’s completely different to what they have done before which makes the product stand out more.

- I was thinking of having a Scottish flag on the UFO to say to the English public that they should have the drink instead of the Scottish, this might disturb the main target market which is Scottish people. Not sure whether to use that yet.

- The font for the product will be very comic looking, it will be youthful and bold which will stand out on the page like a comic book spread.
