General anaesthesia for dental treatment under the age of 14 years is insured in Saskatchewan

general anaesthesia is administered to almost 1,800 children under the age of five year for dental treatment in the hospitals

Almost 70% of special needs patients are referred to hospital based dental clinic

more than 90% of patients prefer dentistry in a hospital if available in the region.

Each year approximately 200 special needs children receive dental treatment at the Royal University Hospital

30% of special needs patients were under the age of 18 years,

65% are between the age of 18 to 65

5% were 65 years or older.

Dental services provided under this program include disease prevention, oral health promotion, fluoride mouth rinse and fluoride varnish.
