Good day Safetywareans I hope everyone is doing well. 2017 has been a very challenging but exciting year. We are seeing so many changes taking place concurrently and that include implementation of new Pronto ERP system, introduction of the new Safetyware Portal, the change of new HR system, new factory expansion which is on-going & to be completed soon in about 1 month, the change of working hour to be shorter so that we can achieve better work-life balance, amongst many others. As always, changes would often lead to some uncertainties & chaos during the processes and I know that you have been working really hard to cope with the changes. You should be proud of yourself for being able to overcome the challenges during this difficult period. As the saying goes, there’s always sunshine after the storm. I firmly believe that as long as we persevere and never give up, victory will be ours.

AED Launching + Training

Venue : Tzu Chi , Penang

Date : 12 Feb 17

First Installation at Tzu Chi Penang.It’s never too late to learn CPR & AED.Once trapped in a coma state, there is only limited 4 minutes to help, as we call it as Golden 4 minutes.

Malaysia Penang Kidney Centre, equipped with AED had launched AED on 12th Feb 17 together with Taiwan Dailin Tzu Chi HospitalVice President Mr Lin Min Nan, and assistant Hospital VP. The purposewas to teach and held an emergency course to the participants, hoping that everyone can be the first to respond.

It was a full day training in Tzu Chi and 100 participants had participated in this event to learn CPR & AED.

AED Launching + Training

Venue : Union School , Penang

Date : 18 Feb 17

CPR/AED training session with teachers of Union High School. Together with Dr Lawrence from St John Ambulance, Penang, the eventwas even more successful.

How to do the first responded when we meet SCA is important, besides than theory session, we have also prepared 10 stations for teachers to take part and did hands on session.

During the event, 10 volunteers from St John Ambulance Penang trained and taught the teachers on how to respond to SCA, did correct CPR & used AED.

Always remember D.R.S.A.B.C.DDanger , Respond, Shout , Airway, Breathing, CPR, Defibrillator.With this 7 alphabet, you can help to do better.

CPR + AED Training

Venue : Equatorial hotel , Penang

Date : 8,15 & 21 Feb 17

Another CPR + AED Training was held in Hotel Equatorial Penang, total 4 session for HEP employees. 3 sessions from STW internal trainer, and 1 session by Mr Gan our external trainer.

HEP Top Management had stressed on this topic in order to make sure every important role in HEP are trained, as this is because SCA (Sudden Cardiac Arrest) case had happened during a dinner in HEP Grand Ballroom last year. Everyone on duty during the dinner felt helpless as theycould not do anything while waiting for the ambulance to arrive. After half an hour ambulance had arrived, the paramedics tried hard to perform CPR to rescue the victim on the spot before sending him to the hospital. However, sadly to say, the victim has passed away after verify by the doctor in the hospital.

The first 10 minutes for victims who suffered in SCA is very important. If cardiac arrest wasperformed in the first few minutes, it can double or triple a person’s chance of survival.

During CPR, you have to push on the chest at a rate of 100 to 120 compressions per minute. The song “Staying Alive” is a perfect beat for this. Download this song now to familiarized with it.
