TRANSCRIPT
Using the evidence from over 85 local government clients and 161 studies, council staff are saying that cooperation
across work areas does not happen well.
They cite many reasons for this including a lack of cross-departmental communication; a lack of understanding of what are
the priorities for each department; and no initiative for pooling staff resources from different departments into common
projects.

Team Climate Survey
Employees spend most of their time working in a team environment. However, building cohesive and effective teams can
be a challenge because it essentially involves forcing people together. How well a team functions and performs
significantly impacts an individual’s experience of day-to-day working life, as well as the overall health and success of an
entire organisation.
Team climate surveys assess how well employees believe their team functions and highlight any areas that the team may
need to work on including:
Measuring team climate
How well a team functions is a major determinant of employee productivity and satisfaction.
Below is a snapshot of Insync’s reporting format used to pinpoint employees’ perceptions of what is working well and what
needs improving within their team.
Internal Customer Satisfaction Survey
Departments depend on each other in terms of productivity and efficiency — if one is underperforming, the entire chain is
stretched. Internal customer satisfaction surveys measure perceptions of internal service, and identify concerns which are
keeping your departments from working together better towards a high performing organisation. Improving internal
customer satisfaction has many positive consequences including increased collaboration, efficiency and morale which
ultimately allows organisations to serve their external customers better.
What causes disharmony across departments?
Net Promoter Score (NPS)
How likely are you to recommend a department to another employee?
The NPS calculates the difference in the proportion of employees who feel so positively about a department that they will
recommend it to others (promoters), versus those employees who feel so negatively about a department that they will
criticise it to others (detractors). Identifying promoters, detractors and passives will offer valuable insights into how a
certain part of your organisation is performing as perceived by internal customers.
360°
The 360° feedback process gathers information about how various stakeholders perceive a specific department.
