It’s not embarrassing to keep all of your old toys stocked up for your toddlers to play with as they grow. Children love toys; in fact any randomly shaped object that catches their sight would also fascinate them. The whole idea behind toys these days is that they are not completely designed as a play time or pass time but for a lot more.

Toys designed by ‘toy giants’ involve a lot of thinking and ingenuity that goes into each of them. How does a toy as an object; attract a child? What can a child learn from the toy? What age group is the toy targeted towards? And how environmentally friendly can the design be?

Most toys are made of plastic these days. Yes there are a lot of toy makers who do make wooden toys sticking to the traditional designs and at times incorporating older ideas into newer designs. But out of preference, most toddlers and babies are often attracted to the colourful plastic ones. Depending on what age group a toy maker is targeting, they have a variety of materials to play around with. But they also have to pick out the ones that will help them bring out their ideas better and allow for better durability and flexibility in construction, meaning that plastics automatically become the first choice.

The good thing about toys is that children love them, and toy makers with the right knowledge can incorporate a number of skills that can be learnt from the toy when a child plays with them (even unknowingly). Toys can be used for fine tuning motor skills while they also can be used for letting their imaginations run wild while they develop cognitive skills. Most toys as simple as they are can indeed help children learn the basic concepts of physics—things that they would learn unknowingly—that they could not normally take into consideration until they learn more about them when they begin with high school. Even social skills can be developed when a bunch of blocks are presented to a group of children.

A children’s nursery is a great place for your child to learn and play together. Think of it as a large toy store with a number of great friends they can make to go with. Enrolling your child in an international nursery will not only give them better exposure to more toys but also to more children allowing them to grow socially and develop all the necessary skills they will need as they move on to higher levels of child development.
