SUPPLIES & TOOLS: • Sari fabric, 6 yds or more • Tightly fitted petticoat with a drawstring waist • Tightly fitted blouse • Basic sewing supplies • Sewing machine, optional • 2 safety pins DIRECTIONS: 1. Sew a narrow hem along the raw edges of the fabric. 2. The fitted petticoat with drawstring waist is essential to hold the sari fabric. Tuck one end of the fabric into the petticoat, starting slightly to the right of the navel, with the bulk of the fabric to the left. The width of the fabric should just touch the floor so only the tips of the toes show. 3. Wrap the sari fabric around your body once. 4. Make five or six 5"-pleats of the fabric in front of the navel & tuck into the petticoat waist. Length should be to the floor; the pleats should hang neatly and even from the waist. Use a safety pin to keep the pleats in place. 5. Wrap the rest of the fabric around back, still at floor length, and back around to the front. 6. Lift the edge of the fabric slightly under the right arm. Position the rest of the fabric over the left shoulder, so the end of the sari falls down the back from the left shoulder to knee length or a bit longer. Fasten another safety pin at the shoulder, pinning the sari to the blouse to prevent slipping. wrapping a sari more projects, tips & techniques at Joann.com ® free 2 skill level Skill Level 2: Some experience necessary Approximate Crafting Time: 30 minutes Please read and follow all manufacturers’ instructions for all tools and materials used.
