"How to Survive Any Storm" Mark 4:35-41

Pastor Duane Laman 9:30 am November 25, 2018

There are some very instructive principles in Mark 4:36-41 that, if applied in the power

of the Holy Spirit, will enable you to survive whatever storms you encounter in the rest

of your life. What can we learn to survive the storms?

I. BE __________ABOUT STORMS

Two key things to know --storms come unexpectedly & furiously.

2. BE __________FOR STORMS.

(1) We need to know that Jesus cares.

(2) We need to know that Jesus isn't surprised.

(3) We need to know that Jesus will act

(4) We need to know that Jesus is with us.

(5) We need to know that Jesus is purposeful.

(6) We need to know that Jesus is sovereign.

(7) We need to know our greatest need--our unbelief.

3. BE ___________BY THE STORM

(1) Storms never leave us where they find us.

(2) Don't break down but break through to a new dimension of your

spiritual life.

4. KNOW THAT MOST OF YOUR LIFE WILL BE _________.

(1) Know and believe Jeremiah 29:11 that God has good plans for you.

(2) Consider how the good outweighs the bad.

Summary: Be ready for any storms and then also plan to enjoy all the good that

your loving God always has in store for you.

The entire Sunday School department has a goal to raise $500 for a special Christmas offering to buy some farm animals for children through World Vision. The offering for this project will conclude Sunday, December 16.

EAST JASPER CHRISTIAN FOOD PANTRY: As you begin to make plans for all the wonderful celebrations you have during Thanksgiving and Christmas, the East Jasper Chris-tian Food Pantry would ask you to think of families that won’t have the same vision of a festive dinner with all the trimmings. Perhaps your family would like to donate a Thanksgiving or Christmas meal to a family in need. The cost of that meal is around $25.00 and would in-clude the following items: Turkey or Ham, Biscuits, dressing, margarine, 2 gravy, cake mix, boxed potatoes, frosting, fruit juice, crackers, canned corn, beans & fruit, cheese, noodles, eggs and jello. If you are interested in expressing your Christian love by donating $25 to East Jasper Christian Food Pantry to provide a Thanksgiving or Christmas meal to a family in need, please contact Julie Dunsbergen at 641-521-1175.

SALVATION ARMY ANGEL TREE: The tree with the Angel tree tags will be located near the nurseries and elevator. The tags will have a child’s age, gender and a gift suggestion. The ages are 1 – 14. Pastor Wayne & Tammy will be on vacation this next week visiting family. If a need arises please contact the church office or Ervin Arkema.

Thankful, Grateful, Blessed are some of the words that de-

scribe my appreciation for all of the prayers, cards, food, con-

cerns, and visits by Pastor Wayne, and our care team, Linda and Ervin Arkema be-

fore and after my surgery. So much support from my family, and many others have

been a blessing to me. Most of all, my Lord walks with me daily, and gives me the

strength to face each day. As of now, I will see the Oncologist every 3 months to

monitor any changes that may happen. Continued prayers are so much appreciated.

Deloris McKeag

The family of Paul Hackert would like to thank all for the many expressions of sym-
