DESCRIPTION

This restoration project had three aims: firstly, to create independent living for disabled people; secondly, to optimize the available space and thirdly, to move the bedrooms to the garden side (south side) and a bathroom to the north. Given the few square metres of surface area available on the garden side, it was chosen to partially intersect the two rooms. This created one room with a small area on the ground floor and an additional area above the other room, so as to leave more surface to the other room developed on ground level. A low corridor that connects them is used as a small laundry area on the ground floor and as a small closet upstairs. Regarding the use of colour, yellow was chosen to identify the wall that divides the two rooms, while orange and blue were used to differentiate them. A parquet floor recalls the lush vegetation that can be found in the garden of the house, entering the rooms through large windows.
