INTRODUCTION :-To achieve the goal of education for

all and to integrate handicapped and disabledwith general community Government of India brought about a scheme .called I.E.D.C. This programme was initiated in 1974 and revised in 1992 with 100% assistance for schools induced in integration of children with disability.

For implementation of this schemevarious N.G.Os now also provide fund.

Different kinds of integrated education

are :-

Full time integration

Part time integer ration

Education in special classes

Education in residential schools

Education in normal classes

Short term education in hospitals

Indian government face many problems to

implement integrated education. Some of them are :-

Challenge of poverty associated with disability

Challenge of modifying deeply held attitude

Dissemination and public education

Challenge of providing adequate levels of

training to key stakeholders.

Some programmes help in addressing thechallenges comes in implementing the

scheme. These are:-

i. Training of teachersii. Need to design innovative system of

trainingiii. Need for collaboration between different

ministriesiv. Involve N.G.Os in implementing integrated

education

A child may given following facilities :- Actual expenses on books and stationary up to rs.

400 per annum. Actual expenses on uniform up to rs. 200 per

annum. Transport allowances of rs. 50 per month. For blind children reader allowance of rs.50

per month after class fifth. One attendant should be there for 10 orthopaedically

handicapped children. Disabled Children residing in hostels may need a

helper or aayah.

PWD Act was passed in 1995 which appear in the gazette of government

Of India in January 1996.

The act was accessed to provide equal opportunities, protection of rights and full participation of disabled children.
