Social Event Information

Date: Monday, November 20, 2017

Time: 3:00 pm

Location: Meet in Waldorf Astoria Ballroom

o All non-student registrations include admissions to the banquet and the social

event.

o Social event will take place on Monday, November 20, 2017 from 3:00 pm – 6:00

pm

o Meet in the Waldorf Astoria Ballroom at 3:00 pm. There are three tour options.

First come, first serve. First choice is not guaranteed.

Tour Options:

1. Mardi Gras World Tour (1 hour)

You’ll get an overview of the history of Mardi Gras in New Orleans before guides take

you through the float den, where artists work year-round to build spectacular floats and

props.

2. Garden District Tour (1.5 hour)

Tour this historic American sector of New Orleans with its antebellum mansions and

stately gardens, and revisit the golden age of New Orleans. Originally conceived as the

American sector after the Louisiana Purchase, the Garden District was intended to rival

the exclusive Creole elegance of Esplanade Avenue, where the newly arrived Americans

were not welcome to reside among the city’s French-speaking natives

3. French Quarter Tour (1.5 hour)

The French Quarter. The original city. Full of charm, wonder, and history. This is the tour

for those wishing to know how New Orleans came to be, who created this place and gave

it its unique character, and why the city remains so distinctive today.
