Most people who live a grateful and generous lifestyle don’t go around bragging about it. But through their actions and words, others do take notice. They notice because of the joy and peace that results and other people desire this in their own life. Know that the way you live your life may be the only interaction oth-ers have with our Catholic faith.

Sing praise to the LORD with the harp, with the harp and melodious song. — Psalm 98:5

RESEMBLANCE The dignity of resembling the Almighty is common to all people; we should then love them all as ourselves, as living images of the Deity. It is in this that we belong to God. —St. Francis de Sales

PEACE First keep the peace within yourself, then you can also bring peace to others. —Thomas à Kempis

Thirty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time Page Three

Adoration Chapel needs you! We are still needing people to commit themselves to an hour each week. Hours that need Adorers: 11 am-3 pm on Friday Schedule mass intentions/quinceañeras for 2020: Stop by the church office to schedule. Lectors’ Workbooks for the next Liturgical Year, which be-gins with the First Sunday of Advent, Dec. 1, are available for sale. Many lectors have found these books a handy study of the Sunday scriptures, whether or not they are “on duty” for a par-ticular weekend. Books are $10 each and are available in the church office. ACTS Core News: The term for the current Catholic Commu-nity of Gonzales/Waelder Core team will be ending at the end of the year 2019, and replacement members are needed. As many of you know, the ACTS Retreats have been a very intri-cate part of not only our community but other countries as well. Through the retreat experience, the hearts and minds of those who have attended have been opened to a deeper knowledge of Adoration, Community, Theology, and Service. In order for our community to continue providing retreats in English and Spanish to all Men, Women and Teens, a strong Core Team is needed. The requirements for Core members are: 1. Served on a least two teams, 2. Be a member of this community, 3. Be committed and willing to serve the needs of others. If you are interested in becoming a member of Core, or feel you are being called to Service in this capacity, give Anita Mar a call at 830-203-7337. Thanksgiving Mass: Our Thanksgiving liturgies will be held Wednesday, Nov. 27, 5:30 pm (SJ); 6 pm (SP), and Nov. 28, 8 am (SH). While this day is not a Holyday in our church, we encourage you to celebrate the spirit of thanks around the Eu-charistic table. On the Way-Andale! Capital Campaign has been raising funds in the parishes throughout the Archdiocese of San Anto-nio with a goal of $60 Million to renovate existing structures, expand facilities for our growing community, and to purchase and build new locations for parishes, schools and campus min-istry. To date, we have received over $55 Million in generous pledges and gifts! THANK YOU to everyone who has contrib-uted to the campaign! We are very close and hope to reach our goal before the end of this year. Help us finish well by making your pledge and adding your contribution to the total? 2nd Collection Today: St. Patrick - Jeremiah Fund. 2nd Collection Next Weekend: CAMPAIGN FOR HUMAN DEVELOPMENT Eucharistic Adoration this Friday, 7 am - 8 pm: Sacred Heart.

On the Way--Andale!

LIFE IS HARD, BUT HAVE NO FEAR Today’s readings take a fearless look at reality and reach a conclusion that we all know: life is hard. The prophet Malachi preaches fire and brimstone, warning us that evildoers will perish in flames. Saint Paul offers his own warning to the Thessalonians: keep busy, but never become a busybody. He reminds Christians that the apostles themselves worked in “toil and drudgery” as a model for how we ought to contribute to our community. The Gospel returns to the apocalyptic tone of Malachi, describing the utter chaos of the end-times. We will know the end is near when violence, catastrophe, and hatred dominate the earth. But we must not fear! God’s saving plan brings peace to our hearts. Malachi speaks of the sun’s “healing rays,” and Jesus himself promises to protect every hair on our heads. Copyright © J. S.
