Cutting Instructions:Fabric A: Cut four 9-1/2" squares.

Cut twenty 4-1/2" squares.

Fabric B: Cut four 9-1/2" squares.Cut twenty 4-1/2" squares.

Fabric C: Cut four 9-1/2" squares.Cut twenty 4-1/2" squares.Cut seven 2-1/2" WOF (width of fabric) strips for binding.

Fabric D: Cut four 9-1/2" squares.Cut twenty 4-1/2" squares.

Fabric E: Cut five 1-1/2" x 61-1/2" strips (cut along the length of grain (parallel to the selvage) or piece WOF strips).Cut thirty-six 1-1/2" x 14-1/2" strips.Cut sixteen 1-1/2" x 9-1/2" strips.Cut forty-eight 1-1/2" x 4-1/2" strips.

Piecing Instructions:(Always press away from Fabric E strips.)

1. Sew two matching 4-1/2" squares to either side of a Fabric E 1-1/2" x 4-1/2" strip as shown.Repeat to make sixteen total units, four each using Fabrics A, B, C, and D 4-1/2" squares.

2. Combine three matching 4-1/2" squares with two Fabric E 1-1/2" x 4-1/2" strips as shown.Repeat to make sixteen total units, four each using Fabrics A, B, C, and D 4-1/2" squares.

3. Each of the final blocks will be assembled by pairing the following fabrics:Fabric A with Fabric DFabric B with Fabric C

(i.e. Use the large Fabric A square with the smaller Fabric D squares, etc. See diagrams.)

Start by assembling the first vertical column of the block as shown, using a unit from step 1, a Fabric E 1-1/2" x9- 1/2" strip, and the appropriate 9-1/2" square (see pairs listed above). Next, add a Fabric E 1-1/2" x 14-1/2"strip and a unit from step 2 on the right side to complete the block. The block should measure 14-1/2" square.

4. Assemble each row of the quilt as shown in the quilt diagram on the following page, using the remaining FabricE 1-1/2" x 14- 1/2" strips as vertical sashing strips. Pay special attention to the orientation of each block andthe placement of fabrics. Finally, sew the rows together, using the Fabric E 1-1/2" x 61-1/2" strips as horizontalsashing strips.

5. Quilt and bind as desired.
