Corner Kick Quilt
Materials Needed
(1) 40 piece colorful jelly roll
1/4 yard solid white fabric OR (3) white jelly roll strips (corner squares)
3/4 yard solid blue fabric (corner squares and binding)
3 1/4 yards backing fabric
Quilt Batting: 57 inches tall x 67 inches wide
Gray Barn Design Tips
Don’t over think fabric choices. Throw your jelly
roll strips in a basket and randomly grab the strips
to sew in blocks.
Many different colors and patterns will make your
quilt sparkle.

Cutting Instructions
From Solid White Fabric
(48) 2.5 x 2.5 inch squares (corner squares)
From Navy Blue Solid:
(48) 1.5 x 1.5 inch squares (corner squares)
(6) 2.5 x width of fabric strips (binding)
Sewing Instructions:
Make the Scrappy Blocks
Step 1: Sew 5 jelly roll strips together and press seams open.
Step 2: Referring to the diagram below, sub-cut the strips sewn together in Step 1 into (4) blocks that measure 10.5 inches x
10.5 inches.
Step 3: Repeat Steps 1 and 2 above using all the colorful jelly roll strips. Make a total of 30 blocks that measure 10.5 x 10.5
inches square.
Quilting Math
1/4 inch = .25 inch
1/2 inch = .5 inch
3/4 inch = .75 inch

Sewing Instructions:
Make the Corner Blocks
Step 1. Referring to the diagram at right, draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of a 1.5 inch blue
square. With right sides together, place the blue square in the upper right hand corner of a 2.5 inch
white square.
Step 2. Referring to the diagram below, sew along the diagonal line. Measure 1/4 inch from the sew line and cut off the
corner. Press seam open.
Step 3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 above to make a total of 48 corner blocks.
Step 4. Referring to the diagram at right, draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of each corner block.
Assemble the Quilt Blocks
MAKE BLOCK A
Step 1. Referring to the diagram below, place a corner block, right side down, in the upper right corner of a 10.5” x 10.5”
block. Note the direction of the jelly roll strips and the corner squares! Sew on the diagonal line as indicated.

corner of a 10.5” x 10.5” block. Note the direction of the jelly roll strips and the corner squares! Sew on the diagonal line as
indi- cated.
Step 2. Referring to the diagram above, measure 1/4 inch from the sew lines and cut off each corner. Press seams open.
Step 3. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 to make a total of (9) C Blocks.
MAKE BLOCK D
Step 1. Referring to the diagram below, place a corner block, right side down, in the upper right corner AND the lower right
corner of a 10.5” x 10.5” block. Note the direction of the jelly roll strips and the corner squares! Sew on the diagonal line as
indicated.
Step 2. Referring to the diagram above, measure 1/4 inch from the sew lines and cut off each corner. Press seams open.

Sewing Instructions:
Sew the Quilt Top Together
Step 1. Lay out the blocks in rows as indicated in the diagram below. Sew the blocks together in each row and press
seams open.
Step 2. Sew the rows together to complete the quilt top.
Finish Corner Kick Quilt
Step 1: Layer the backing fabric, batting and the quilt top. Quilt using your favorite quilting technique.
Step 2: Sew the 2.5 inch binding strips together and attach to Corner Kick using your favorite binding technique.
