Miss a Special Collec(on? This probably
happens to most of us occasionally. When it does,
just bring your envelope one of the following
weekends and deposit it in the regular offertory
basket. The fact is we do not send the total check to
the Diocese unl about a month a#er each special
collecon.!
Many Openings for Mass Inten(ons. While
we presently have a good supply of Mass intenons
for Sundays, there are many openings for weekday
Masses both at Holy Redeemer and St. Anthony. As
one who believes that we, the living, probably need
more prayers than the deceased, please consider a
Mass for the special people in your life, in our
church, our naon, or the world. We also have many
openings for The Sanctuary Light if you would be in-
terested in ge$ng that in someone’s memory.!

! ! ! ! ! ! A Life Saved!
(You may remember reading last fall that the Warren
Pregnancy Support Center officially affiliated with the
Women’s Care Center of Erie County to promote
women’s health and prevent aborons. Please enjoy
reading below an encouraging story about the good
work they are doing)!! On a warm day in May, 2017 a young, shy, and
frightened couple came in to the Center for their
scheduled pregnancy test/intake appointment. !
!
Sandy had been a virgin before she met Tom.
They were tested and needed to be treated for two
STI’s and Sandy also found out that she had a UTI.
They had only been together for five months and
now find themselves with an unplanned pregnancy
and feel aboron is the best opon.!
!
This client lost her virginity, contracted two STI’s,
a UTI, and now a pregnancy all during her first short
sexual relaonship. Tom broke down and cried
blaming himself for everything he had put her
through.!
!
They returned to the Center to have a limited
ultrasound to confirm and date the pregnancy as
well as to allow them to see their baby. They
received medical treatment and counseling on their
opons and a#er several visits to the Center and
many phone calls they chose LIFE! To prepare for
the birth of this liKle unplanned miracle they took as
many classes as possible28 WCC Stepping Stones
classes, childbirth classes, newborn care class, and
the breasSeeding class. AKending all of these
classes not only prepared them for being parents but
they earned several baby items as well!!!
!
Their beauful baby girl was born on Christmas
Day 2017 during the record breaking snow fall! They
are so in love with this liKle one and couldn’t
imagine life without her. They have thanked us
again and again stang “ We don’t know what we
would have done without you ladies at WCC!”!

gratulaons go out to “Rev. Mr.” Ian McElrath and
“Rev. Mr.” Andrew Boyd, soon to be “Fathers” Ian
and Andrew. You may know Fr. Ian since he has
served the past year as a Deacon at St. Joseph Church.!

!
If you are able to join us for our Annual Picnic, it
would be helpful for our planning if you filled out a
reservaon form and returned it in the collecon
basket next week or bring to the office by June
4th
. Extra reservaon forms can be found in the
gathering space. If you don’t remember to do so, or
find yourself available at the last moment, come
anyway as there always seems to be enough food at
these parish dinners. !
!
BYOC Bring Your Own Chair next Sunday. If the weather is favorable next Sunday (of course it
will) you may want to bring a comfortable lawn chair
for the outdoor Mass and picnic to follow. If not, we
will provide chairs from the parish center.!
!
Community Worship Service Coming
August 19th
. Believe it or not, August 19th is just
around the corner. We hope you can join us at the
Struthers Library Theater that day at 10:00 am for
our Warren Community Worship Service! Our
speaker this year will be Warren's own George Lilga! !
Thoughts While Driving. I spend an houranda
half in the car every me I drive to Erie, so I have lots
of me to think/pray. A recent thought occurred to
me as I listened on public radio about all the money
our country spends on weapon’s systems millions/
billions(s) of dollars to protect our country. (These
are weapons that we pray will never be used.) More
and more I wonder if these dollars might be beKer
spent to provide health care, beKer schools, safe
bridges and roads, living wage jobs for all Americans,
etc. Isn’t America best protected by healthy and
educated cizenry, a safe infrastructure, and a few
more things you can add? Something to think about.!
!
Bap(zed in Christ. Next Saturday we will
welcome into the Faith and parish Owen Andrick
Skerda, son of Andy and Stephanie (Campbell)
Skerda, brother of Kendall, and grandson of Deacon
Phil and Maureen Skerda. !
Picnic Reserva(on Form!
Immigra(on Reform. Many people in our
country, including many of our elected officials, have
been warning Americans for years that our naon’s
immigraon system is broken and needs repair.
What some of you also know is that the U.S. Senate
had dra#ed a plan in July of 2013 with very specific
recommendaons to address this breakdown. This
plan was, in fact, so popular that it passed the
Senate with 67 votes or a twothirds majority.
Unfortunately the Bill died in the U.S. House of
Representaves. If you would like to read the
contents of this very popular Senate Bill 744, I have
copied it and placed it in the Gathering Space. (It is in
bright YELLOW.) The copy you’ll see is actually a copy
of the leKer that Senator Bob Casey sent to one of
our parishioners who was inquiring about
immigraon reform recently. The full name of the
Bill was: Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and
Immigra.on Moderniza.on Act.!
!
Who is Eligible to be a Blood Donor? These
are the condions for donors: 1.) Must weigh at least
110 lbs., 2.) Must be in general good health. 3.) No
taKoos or piercings from a taKoo parlor within the
last year. 4.) Must be 17 years or older, 16 years old
with a signed parental consent form. Photo I.D. is
REQUIRED.!
St. Joseph Rummage Sale. This annual sale to
benefit St. Joseph School takes place June 14 16.
Pick up a flier in the gathering space with all the de-
tails, including DropOff Dates.!
“Catholics and Muslims: Friends or Adver-
saries?” This is the tle of a 2page explanaon of
the similaries and differences between the two reli-
gions. (Hint: There are more similaries than differ-
ences.) This paper is published by the United States
Catholic Conference of Bishops in Washington, D.C.
With all the misconcepons “out there” about Islam/
Muslim faith, it would do us all well to get more ac-
quainted with our “cousins” in the faith. I say cousins
because Islam, Judaism and Chrisanity all trace
themselves back to a common father: Abraham of the
Old Testament.!

!!
Divorced and Separated and the Sacraments
Many Catholics do not know that divorced or
separated Catholics living again in the single state
are welcome and encouraged to receive Communion
each me they celebrate Mass. They are also
welcome to be sponsors for Bapsm and
Confirmaon. The only hindrance as for any other
single or married person would be serious sin in
your life. In that case, you should go to confession to
be forgiven and then approach the altar for the
Eucharist.!
!
Looking Out For One Another. Always look
around at the people who sit near you in church. If
one of them goes missing for a few weeks, don’t be
afraid to call them to see if they are OK. Also, when
there is a death in the family, it can be difficult
coming back to Mass, especially if you have to do it
alone. Why not call them and invite them to join
you?!
Pastor Council Members. Please pick up your
packets a#er mass next week in preparaon for the !June 12th meeng at 7:00 pm at St. Anthony Church.!
A Family Perspec(ve One gets the impression
there was always a lot of sharing, discussion and
learning during the many meals Jesus and the
disciples ate together. How does this compare to the
meals in your home? Today’s gospel challenges us to
make our meals more than physical funcons and
more a me for sharing.!
Marriage Moments.! "Love does not consist in
gazing at each other but in looking outward together
in the same direcon." (Antoine De SaintExupery)
The liKle prince knew something of marriage. Look
out over your life and see beyond the crabgrass.
What is your most cherished common goal?!
Moving? To a New Home or a Nursing Home?
When moving anywhere, it is always appreciated if
you would call the church office so that we can
connue sending you parish mailings if you are
remaining in the Warren area. Also, in cases where a
person will be moving to a Nursing Home or Assisted
Living facility, we like to know so that we can arrange
for parish visitors and bringing Communion.!
