The Dan-Ag CARE CENTRE
Provide limited care & support to homeless & needy families / persons in Retreat/Montague Village areas, within the project. Manage a small care support centre from which the following are performed:
• Provide basic care including clothing, food
• Provide programs that will attempt to:
• Build self-esteem, confidence
• Assist with finding employment & compiling CV’s
• Assist in re-unification, re-integration in original communities
• Assist in becoming self-reliant At the moment, our operating style is:
• Provide two meals a week to about 60 homeless (including children & disabled) within the project
• Basic needs - clothing, blankets, food donations
• Provide permanent accommodation (to those in the program); after careful monitoring & approval, & we have raised sufficient funds to build a bungalow, we move them off the street , start them off with bedding, kitchen utensils, toi-letries & foodstuffs.
• Monthly Family preservation/Parenting programs
• Weekly Craft programs, the end product they can sell as income for themselves
• Consulting sessions
• Referral for admission to rehab & other needs
• Pay fees for ID’s, ID photos, grants and train fare
The aim of soup hand outs: To identify individual needs and either direct them to services or assist where we can. Although there are shelters in most areas, many do not have the necessary fee to spend a night at the shelter; they are turned away and hence remain on the street. Some resort to street life due to family poverty, domestic violence, housing, unemploy-ment & other socio-economic ills. Because of the duration they spent living on the street, it is difficult for them to help themselves out of this cycle. This cycle of poverty can be broken by the act of Giving. The knowledge that there are a few who are terminally ill & have nowhere to conva-lesce, makes the need for establishing a fully operational care centre, even more ur-gent. The aim of this project can reduce destruction of family life, increase upliftment of dig-nity and self-sustainability. We are privileged that we can help them in some way. Thanks for your support, sharing & prayers. GOD bless you all

BIBLE SUNDAY
South Africa is well served by two vibrant organizations promoting the
Bible: The Bible Society of South Africa (BSSA) and Catholic Bible Foun-
dation of South Africa (CBFSA).
The BSSA has been bringing the Word of God to South Africans since
1820 and it is a member of the United Bible Societies, a family of 146
Bible societies operating in over 200 countries.
The Mission of BSSA is to provide affordable Bibles for everyone in
their own language and in suitable format so that all may experience the
life-giving message of the Word. Last year it became possible for the
first time to distribute the complete Bible in all of our country’s eleven
official languages.
The slogan for BSSA is A BIBLE FOR EVERYONE. Some idea of this
project can be gleaned from the fact that last year (2013) more than 1
million Bibles were distributed, and more than half a million free cell-
phone Bibles were downloaded. The range of Bible formats is a tribute
to the zeal and imagination of BSSA: ordinary print, large print, Braille,
audio, internet, cell-phone and e-Bible!
The CBFSA, by comparison, is a new boy on the block. The inspiration
for CBFSA came from Elandskop in KZN. Two Holy Family Sisters visited
Mrs Mdaweni in her very frugal house and asked how they might be of
help. All Mrs Mdaweni asked for was a Bible. Bishop Vestraete O.M.I.
was pondering the same idea: what people want –and need- is access to
the Word of God. For twenty years now the CBFSA has been living up to
its mandate “to help people enter into a living and dynamic relationship
with the Word of God, Jesus Christ, through the Word of God in the
Scriptures”.
In making the Bible known the strategy of CBFSA is focussed on Scrip-
ture Programmes for adults, youth and children. It has offices in Johan-
nesburg and Durban and a website: www.catholicbible.org.za
The purpose of today’s Bible Sunday is to draw attention to the centrali-
ty of Scripture in everything we do and the critical role it plays in our
lives. Bible Sunday encourages a Christian way of life inspired and based
on the Word of God.

Garden of Remembrance update: Our project is now underway and will be done
in stages to keep the activity low impact on parishioners. We have moved the kerb stones and cleared the area to allow for the next phase which will be the con-struction of the surround wall columns and the water fountain containment area. We appeal to parishioners to respect the demarcated building activity areas, and also only park in designated parking bays, and not parallel to the kerb as this space is insufficient for those using the demarcated bays to turn.
Lighting upgrade: The night lighting in the drive in area to left of the cry chapel
has been upgraded for better visibility. We have also trimmed foliage to remove areas of shadow. Further improvements will be made when we commence the Parish Centre facade and entrance improvements as part of a further project.
Adoration Support If you are able to offer time as a stand-by adorer please add
your name to the schedule in the porch. This is ideal for parishioners who cannot commit to a regular weekly slot and will suit parishioners who need flexibility, yet will be of huge help to the regular adoration members who occasionally have un-avoidable time overlaps and need to arrange an adorer to cover their time period.
It’s your Parish, join in, be part of the action.
To share your Time, Talent or Treasure within your Parish Community step forward and contact the office 021 712 2210 with your contribution of help.
