remindseveryone tobe careful.Sunlight is themain sourceof UV rays and peoplewho get a lot of exposure toultraviolet (UV) rays are atgreater risk for skin cancer. Sunexposure adds up day after day not just on a day at the beach orat the pool. Moving to the shade, covering up (with a shirt andsunglasses), and, of course, using sunscreen are importantways to reduce your sunexposure. The article "How do Iprotect myself from UV rays?" onthe American Cancer Societywebsite provides more ideas forsun protection with detailedinformation on sunscreen usage and SPF labels. Trainer Tip of the Month
Summer dining
Summer is a great time to get outand about with friends. Soremember this tip when eatingout this summer order saucesand salad dressings on theside. This will allow you tocontrol both your calories andyour portions.
Benefits of red wine
According to an online article by PositiveMed,a glass or two of red wine has been shown tohave benefit. It can cut cravings and appetite, plus help to make you feel more relaxed andthis can lead to less eating and an earlierbedtime. It can also lower your bloodpressure. In addition, red wine contains achemical called ellagic acid which can slowthe growth of fat cells and stop the formation
of new ones, so your body burns more fat. You can read the fullarticle at.postivemed.com/2015/06/15.
But be careful not to overindulge. Christina and the H&H teamremind everyone that moderation is key.

H&H Clients Compete at NPC Muscle MayhemMore winners at H&H!
After twelve weeks of training (dieting, cardio and weights!), nine His & Her Fitness clients competedin the NPC Muscle Mayhem fitness show on June 6 in Overland Park. The final result was focusedminds and fit bodies everyone looked and felt good.
There were ups and downs and lots of hard work butbecause they planned ahead, everyone was still able to"have a life." This is the first time in three years that H&Hhas trained a team for a fitness show. As coach ChristinaLarson explains, "There can often be narcissistic behavior infitness competitors, but this team was so humble. Theseteam members truly supported each other. Everyone was awinner!"
Training the competitors was a team effort at His & HerFitness, too. Merrit Crawford trained seven of the nine athletes, Eugene (EJ) Walter trained twocompetitors, and Tom Finholm trained one. New trainer Zach Sohn stepped in as a test judge andworked the night booth. Plus both Merrit and EJ attended the competition and encouraged theirclients during the show. Clients Mary Jo Lang and Kitty Deen deserve a special thanks for their helpwith tans and backstage support. And Christina was honored to have been there for everyone fromstart to finish.
But, of course, nothingcould compare to thesupport of family, friends, and fans.
Congratulations to all the competitors
on theiraccomplisments!

I have been athletic most of my life and have worked out prettyregularly. As I got older, I noticed that my workouts were not givingme the results I wanted. About five years ago a friend recommendedHis & Her Fitness. I was skeptical and took my time schedulingmy first appointment. Even the first few workouts and consultationswith Christina didn't really dampen my skepticism, but then slowly Istarted noticing good changes and I became more committed to theH&H way. In the past ten years, I have had health challenges andlife challenges launched my way and I've discovered that workingout properly with results has became a huge part of keeping meon a good mental path.
Eating clean doesn't sound scrumptious to most people, but I havefound ways to make it appetizing and enjoy cooking for health. If I could only get my 9yearold boyand 6yearold girl to eat like I do! Oh well, in time... I have no problem asking restaurants to preparemy food a certain way and frequent establishments that I know have the menus to accommodate. Ofcourse I do enjoy a meal once a week or so without worrying about clean eating, and a glass or twoof red wine will always be a part of my plan. With my work as a commodity trader, and being a single parent, healthy eating and physical trainingwill always be a part of my life.
