July 2020

Hello VillageWalk residents,

It’s summertime in SW Florida and just recently the heat index reached over 100 degrees

Fahrenheit. What does this mean? It means DANGER Will Robinson! Please take extra pre-

cautions and drink plenty of fluids when outside in extreme weather. Tennis and pickleball players – I don’t

know how you do it, but seeing you playing so hard out there in the summer sun is truly admirable! This

goes for anyone working or playing outdoors in such a climate. The CDC has some great recommendations

to avoid heat exhaustion: https://www.cdc.gov/disasters/extremeheat/heattips.html.

The new VillageWalk website was placed on hold in order to migrate the current Landscape and Irrigation

request system over to the new site. This has proven to be a bit more complicated than we had planned,

however we aim to succeed in this challenge in order to preserve the history of your landscape requests.

New fuel dispensers have been installed! You can now use the chip-reader feature that was previously una-

vailable on the old pumps. Chip readers are generally safer and more secure when using credit cards.

Lastly, the KW staff is working on a short video to post on channel 195 highlighting each staff member and

what their role is. We want residents to know us better and to feel completely comfortable asking us for an-

ything at all; and we are more than happy to help you. Property management is a unique sort of business in

that staff members see residents on a daily basis and strive to build mutually fulfilling, long-term relation-

ships. Sometimes there are challenges and growth opportunities, however our staff members are ready,

willing and eager to exceed your expectations and make sure that ALL residents walk away completely satis-

fied, and with a smile. Please let us know how we’re doing and how we can improve.

At the last annual meeting I posed a challenge to all KW staff: at any time, if a resident asks what our mission

statement and GREAT values are, we had better know it! Please feel free to share your experience with this.

Thank you,

John Rowland, LCAM General Manager 239-498-7000

Hello VillageWalk of resident,

Can you believe July 4th is almost here? This hands down is my favorite

holiday.

Thank you for coming out and supporting our outdoor activities. As we

continually work towards normalizing our community lifestyle, we are obli-

gated to follow Florida Governor Rick DeSantis’ orders, along with the

CDC regulations, all of which may change as time goes on. But in the

meantime please stop by my office to say hello!

Warmly,

Amy

BUTTERFLY GARDEN NEWS

Go for a walk, get on your bike or take a golf cart ride to the 10 gardens on the South side of

Village Walk Circle along the Nature Trail --- We are pleased to announce we have added 2 new

butterfly species to our gardens. The RUDDY DRAGGENWING lays its eggs on the strangler fig

tree and wild banana. The butterfly is attracted to various white flowers such as Cordia glaba-

wa , Biden alba and the nectar of the Giant Milkweed. You will see the upper side of this but-

terfly is orange and the underside is mottled brown. Try to find it.

We also now have the PIPEVINE SWALLOWTAIL. It’s beautiful with its black and iridescent blue

hindwings. The caterpillars (larvae) eat the leaves and seed pods of the pipevine but will not

feed on its flower as it is toxic to them. The adult butterflies feed on a variety of plants for the

nectar and seek the minerals at puddles. Look at the amazing Pipevine swallowtail lifecycle:

egg stage 4-10 days, caterpillar (larvae) stage 3-4 weeks, chrysalis 10-20 days, adult 6-14

days. Life is amazing.

GARDEN CLUB MEETINGS:

Due to COVID-19 all our future meetings are on hold. We ordinarily meet the third Tuesday of

every month October to May. We plan to take all the precautionary measures to keep everyone

safe so we will let you know when and where we will hold our next meeting.

NUTHIN’ AT OUR BEACHES IS MARVELOUS

Ed Gray / Bonita Springs

Down here in Southwest Florida,

Our beach is really something;

It’s marvelous how much you gain,

From “doin’ jus’ ‘bout nuthin”.

“Do nuthin’s” mostly how you are,

As you slow down your pace;

Relax, refresh…immerse yourself,

In beauties of the place.

“Do nuthin’’can take lots of time,

Our beaches show you why…

Embracing all your senses as,

You watch the Gulf go by.

Admire the sand and ocean sounds,

As clouds caress blue skies;

You’ll watch the water, hear the life,

As sunsets bless your eyes.

The time you waste while at the beach,

Is truly time well-spent;

It can be long, yet seem so short,

You’ll wonder where it went.

The beach gives back so much as you,

Are focusing on less;

To help you to “do nuthin’” is,

Just what the beach does best.
