The Washington County YouthHockey Association's Pee Wee "A"team defeated the KensingtonValley (MI) Renegades 2-1 to winthe championship of the Great LakesTournament Series Veteran's Cup inHolland, Mich. Nov. 10th.
After posting pool play victoriesover the Lakeland (MI) Hawks 2-1and Kensington Valley 7-2. As wellas a defensive battle 0-0 tie versusthe Omaha (NE) Jr. Lancers, the PeeWee "A" Ice were the top seed inthe championship game.
Kensington Valley struck first onthe power play at the 4:06 mark ofthe first period. Seven minutes later,Tyler Herzberg connected withAdam Butler on a nifty backhand toknot the score at 1-1. The gameremained tied until 6:11 in the thirdperiod when Brady MacDonaldfound Ethan Coughlin in the slot fora 2-1 Ice lead that they would neverrelinquish. Noah Grannan stopped13 of the 14 shots he faced tosecure the championship for the Ice.
"It was a great weekend of hock-ey for the boys," said first year headcoach Al Haga. "We started out alittle slow in pool play and reallyfound a grove during the gameagainst Omaha. The boys playedhard and even when giving up the
first goal in three games, they neverbelieved they were out of anything."The Pee Wee "A" Ice ran their over-all record to 6-1-3 and open upRegion 5 Division 2 Conferenceplay this Saturday, Nov. 16th at

The Gingerbread House, a holiday gift-giving program run by the Youth and FamilyProject, is seeking donations and volunteersfor the Christmas season.
