Mountain biking is one of the fastest growing outdoor recreation activities in the world. What exactly motivates people in eastern Virginia to mountain bike? We will highlight the findings of this research and explore what has been done, and what could be done to continue to grow the sport of mountain biking in Hampton Roads.
“Adventures of a Naive Cyclist”From a 1992 Perimeter tour of the USA that brought awareness to critical health issues facing our nation, to the creation of a event fundraising platform for organizations that has raised millions of dollars to affect social change and community improvement. This discussion will bring to light the need for genuine collaboration and the teamwork thats needed for our culture to move forward together.

It is important to teach our children good bike safety rules as they begin to join the biking community. It is also importantthat adult drivers are aware of the differences in how children view traffic and how that view can put them in danger as they
take to the road as both pedestrians and on bicycles. This session will give a child's eye view of traffic and how we as
drivers need to raise our awareness to keep them safe.

partnerships can strengthen the “community fabric” with the use of minimum grid networks and electric assist
bicycles like Northern Virginia's RIIDE platform.
