Once again it is newsletter time and the monthly article writing. I’m sure everyone is about

as fed up as I am with the COVID thing. I know we have to social distance but that is really

hard to do with a social group. The chapter has broken out a little and it has been fun and as

far as I know no one has contracted the COVID Virus. Let’s see what we have started to do

On June 13th we broke bread with an impromptu ride to the Trojan Diner. I guess it was

plain to see that everyone wanted to go riding. If I counted correctly there were 11 bikes

and 15 people. Dave and Randi led around the middle peninsula for a very enjoyable ride.

On the 16th we had our first Ice cream ride of the season. Very rainy but a slew of folks

came out. We went to Short Lane and as usual it was very good. We had the whole upstairs

area to ourselves.

We are trying to get back to close to normal. Keep aware of postings on Facebook and

emails about what the Chapter is planning to do. We hope it is more and more.

We plan to have a discussion with management at Angelo’s and see if we can have our

gathering on July 12. Keep your fingers crossed and we will keep you informed if we can

make it happen.

August 9th-Hopefully Gathering at Angelo’s

The District wants to remind you of the All Chapters Picnic on September 19th at Twin

Lakes State Park again this year. Also don’t forget that the District rally will be at the end

of October this year and also a new venue in Lynchburg. Let’s get out and support the

District. Chapter C is in the planning stages for our carnival game for the Rally.

As you can see, we are trying to get back close to normal so come on out and have some

fun. Come on out and enjoy what your chapter has to offer. Events that have already taken

place have been a lot of fun and I’m sure those coming up will be also; you just need to

come out and take part. That’s it for this month, as you can see there is plenty on offer so

come out and enjoy what you can, until then be careful out there we want to see you all

Things are slowly but surely getting back to normal. After weeks of waiting to get

together, our group has been able to enjoy some local riding to include our beloved ice

cream rides. We’re trying to get in as many of our scheduled outings as we can, based

on the destination’s COVID guidelines.

Although Lynn and I couldn’t attend, a small group rode to Mayflower Seafood

Restaurant in Winterville, NC on Sunday, June 28th. We understand the food was

delicious and everyone had a fun time! And, of course, they followed lunch up with ice

cream at the Windsor DQ. Because, as we all know, there’s always room for ice cream!

We understand other chapter members were out enjoying the roads as well. Dave and

Randi rode down to the Smoky Mountains to get some artwork painted on her trike.

Chapter Directors, Dave and Donna, took ride to the Hannigan Trike Company in

Kentucky to have them do a once-over on their tri-car. We heard both couples got just a

bit wet on their journeys! Here’s to safe travels home!

It’s more important these days to keep an eye on your email and/or our group Facebook

page for updates to our calendar. Brent will be in contact with each of our planned

destinations to make sure they can accommodate our group. We ask that you be patient

and flexible as last-minute changes may occur.

I know we’re looking forward to getting out there again and “C”-ing all of you!

Membership Enhancement

Randi & Dave Green

Just when we benefitted from some terrific riding weather, Mother Nature saw fit to dump some rain on us! Hopefully, you’ve been able to catch some breaks in the clouds and enjoy some wind therapy. The rain certainly didn’t dampen our spirits when our chapter visited Short Lane Ice Cream in Gloucester, always a

VAC favorite! We were all riding with 4-wheels but it didn’t matter. We were so happy so see everyone – we’ve missed you!

Earlier in June, we put out an impromptu ride to give Randi some time on her newly acquired trike. While it wasn’t an “official” VAC ride, we had several members come along. We enjoyed lunch at the Trojan Grill in New Kent, then traveled some winding country roads on the way back. Beautiful and peaceful scenery out that way so we’re pretty sure this will be a repeat outing at some point!

We will be conversing with Angelo’s in the next couple of weeks to determine when we can return for our monthly gatherings. We’re just as anxious as everyone else to get back together, but we want to do it safely for everyone. Keep an eye out on your email as well as Facebook for important updates to the schedule.

VA-C Member Highlight:

Let’s “C” Who We’re Meeting This Month…

Definitely no stranger to GWRRA is VAC member Jackie Wall. Thanks to the military, Jackie has lived many places both here and abroad.

A military baby, she was born in Omaha, Nebraska and lived in Japan before moving to Hampton when her father was stationed here at Langley AFB. She also spent 3 years in Oceanside, California.

Jackie has been employed with Canon Virginia for 32 years and is currently a supervisor in the Human Resources Department. She has 2 daughters and a 5-year-old grandson.

During her time in GWRRA, which she says has been a LONG time, Jackie has held many positions both at the District and Chapter level to include District and Chapter C Educator as well as Social Events Coordinator both VAC and the District. She currently serves on the VAC Staff as our webmaster.

When asked about her favorite part of GWRRA membership, Jackie immediately said “It’s the family atmosphere of our local chapter. Many times, some of them have been there for me more than family.”
