About the CCTP Certification SchemeAt the Certified Counter Terrorism Board, we have developed and maintained a voluntary and comprehensive certification scheme that is recognized as the standard of excellence for competent counter terrorism professionals. It has been designed by practitioners, for practitioners. This is critical, as it is only through understanding the threat of terrorism globally, having the ability to identify the various threats and modus operandi of the terrorist, and possessing the ability to assess the risk and to implement the necessary processes and technological protective measures, that we have the ability to prepare and respond to terrorist acts efficiently and effectively.

Why earn the CCTP certificate? The CCTP certification provides demonstrable proof of knowledge, skill and experience in key areas for the purposes of mitigating the threat of terrorism, and by providing proactive measures to reduce the vulnerability of individuals and property to terrorist acts.

Earning a CCTP demonstrates your competency in 4 main domains:

2 Threat identification

3 Prevention and mitigation of the threat

4 Preparedness and response to terrorist act

CCTP domainsThe credential will be awarded to the eligible candidates who have successfully passed the examination which assesses the knowledge of 4 main domains in the field of counter terrorism:

PREPARATION

At the initial application stage, education and experience is evaluated. Passing all eligibility criteria and signing the code of conduct, will allow participants to proceed with the course.

The comprehensive CCTP examination consists of multiple-choice questions. It tests comprehension and application of the key concepts and processes of each of the domains as outlined above. The CCTP examination is a standardized test administered and scored in a consistent manner to ensure legal defensibility.

Candidates who successfully passed the examination will receive a designation certification, which is valid for two years. To maintain an active status, it is necessary to renew certification every two years.

In order to prepare for the CCTP exam, the Certified Counter Terrorism Board offers a copy of The Complete Counter Terrorism Guide as study material.There is also an option to attend one of the 3-day preparatory courses.

The process

CCTP Eligibility1. ACADEMIC AND EXPERIENCE The participant is required to have either one of the following:

1.1. A minimum university degree and at least 2 years’ experience in the security, law enforcement or military field OR

1.2. Relevant experience in the field of security, law enforcement or military with at least 5 years in executive or management role and/or responsibility if you do not have a relevant degree.

2. DECLARATION The participant is expected to not have any criminal records and would have to declare this status during the application process.

3. PROFESSIONAL REFERENCES The participant must submit 2 professional references who have personal knowledge of and can validate your security experience, character and good standing.

CCTP accreditation The Certified Counter-Terrorism Practitioner program meets the requirements and those set forth in ISO 17024.

International Standard ISO/IEC 17024 is the benchmark and requirement for each organization providing certification of persons.

The requirements specified in ISO/IEC 17024 aim to help personnel certifying organizations protect the integrity and ensure the validity of their various personnel certification programs. Confidence in the respective certification schemes is achieved by means of a globally accepted process of assessment, subsequent surveillance and periodic re-assessments of the competence of certified persons.
