Dear Parents and Guardians
I hope you are enjoying the warmer weather as we approach the end of Term 3. Book Week – Escape to Everywhere On Wednesday, our school celebrated Book Week in what could only be described as an extravaganza, highlighting the importance of reading. I would like to thank key staff who made the book parade an event all our students enjoyed. Firstly, to Mrs Matta (currently on leave), Mrs Wickham and Mrs Stuart for providing the initial direction for the parade. Secondly, I’d like to thank Mrs Paljaka and Mrs Gear who organised the entire parade! They wrote the script, organised the music and prepared the students who presented the most amazing opening to a book parade I have witnessed! I would also like to thank our music teacher, Miss Muir for preparing the choir. All in all, it truly was an amazing event and hopefully it inspired our learners of all ages to take time to relax, unwind and escape the daily grind and read! Positive Behaviour for Learning Next week, each family will receive an A5 Behaviour Matrix to display on the fridge. As I’ve discussed on numerous occasions, we are genuine in wanting to establish strong connections between home and school. Having the same expectations regarding appropriate behaviour will help strengthen this partnership between the school and parents, as we use a common language when speaking with your child. Pine Street Apartments
Once again, we have been approached by members of our community who have been inconvenienced by parents or guardians either parking illegally on the street or using the carpark designated to the tenants living in the Pine Street Apartments. Please be mindful and respectful of our fellow community members. Connecting with your child’s school
There are many ways you can connect with GA. For parents who are ‘time poor’ and find it challenging to volunteer or attend events at GA, you can still stay connected via the school’s social media page. Please consider following our school on Twitter @gawynnum We are using this platform more regularly and hope our parents are enjoying the updates.
Peace be with you Craig

APRE News
GA Playground
If you have visited our school over the past week, you would have noticed the amazing artwork that Graphic Lines have done painting all the games on the asphalt surface on the Junior Campus. The children and staff have thoroughly enjoyed watching the designs coming to life over the week. This will give our younger students so much more to do during play time. A very big thank you to our hard-working and supportive P&F for funding this project. Rotary Primary Schools Public Speaking Competition
Yesterday we held our school final to select students from Years Five and Six who will represent Guardian Angels in this year’s Rotary Primary Schools Public Speaking Competition which is held in October each year. Awards went to India Poots (1st Place), Jazz Waller (2nd Place) and Caitlin Jamieson (3rd Place). The judges also made special mention of Ellie Knight, who came a very close fourth. Well done everyone! It is certainly not easy to stand up in front of an audience and deliver a three minute speech, but all ten of our finalists did an amazing job. Farewell Sam Briggs
Tomorrow we bid farewell to Sam Briggs, our fantastic Prep Red School Officer. Sam, we wish you all the very best as you embark on your new journey. We will certainly miss you! Sam’s replacement will commence at the beginning of next term. Have a great week everyone! The warmth of Spring is
just around the corner.

Virtue The virtue of the week is Unity. Unity helps people work and live together peacefully. When we practise unity, we feel connected to
everyone and everything. Unity brings harmony, like the music made by different instruments in an orchestra. Unity comes when we value all people. The joy of one is the joy of all. The hurt of one is the hurt of all. The honour of one is the honour of all. We are practising unity, when we:
Treat all people as members of one human
family;
See the gifts in differences;
Refuse to join in when others express
prejudice;
Solve conflict through listening and finding
solutions;
Care for the earth and all living things; and
Act like a peacemaker wherever you go.
St Francis Day
On Wednesday 4 October, we will celebrate the feast day of St Francis of Assisi. On this day we will start with a whole school Mass in the Shed led by Father John at 9am. All students will receive a special treat at lunchtime. Classes will then be involved in St Francis themed activities throughout
the day in their classrooms and with their buddies.
Prayer While you are proclaiming peace with your lips,
Be careful to have it even more fully in your heart.
St Francis of Assisi Blessings for the coming week, Debbie Young
