SCRIPTURE CORNER WE LONG TO SEE GOD’S FACE “Lord, this is the people that longs to see your face.” This antiphon for today’s responsorial psalm offers the focus for today’s readings. As we on earth celebrate the triumph of all the saints—the ones official-ly canonized by the Church, and the countless others who have also reached heaven—we add nothing to their glory. But we give ourselves reason to hope. We too long to see the face of God and believe that we can one day be counted among those whose robes, as John tells us in the book of Revelation, are washed “white in the blood of the Lamb.” The passage from John’s First Letter offers further assurance: we are God’s children who will one day see God. But today’s Gospel pulls us past longing and reassurance into action. Jesus clearly tells us what we must do to be counted among the saints. We must be poor in spirit, hungry for holiness, merciful, single-hearted, and peacemakers! Then we too will see the face of God. ————Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

November Calendar
During our Life Nights for 9th – 12th graders, teens will participate in goofy, fun games or skits relating to the weekly theme, listen to powerful sharings by adult leaders, share in small groups and leave with a weekly challenge. We meet in the youth room upstairs right after the 6 p.m. Life Teen Mass and end with a meal in the community center. November 1st – “Be ONE” – This night will explore the Feast of All Saints Day and we will look at the lives of the heroes gone before us. November 8th -“So Much More…” The goal for this night is to understand Jesus’ teaching regarding wealth and mate-rialism. This night will also help the teens guard against attitudes of materialism in their own lives. November 15th – Packing Food Bags for the SVDP Society. November 22nd – “Alive” The goal of Alive is to explore why we were created. It discusses how we were created from love and for love, and that we are created to love. The Life Night challenges teenagers to be satisfied in God’s love and live extraordinary lives. November 29th – NO LIFE NIGHT – THANKSGIVING BREAK November Calendar During our Edge nights for 6th – 8th graders, teens will participate in goofy, fun games or skits relating to the weekly theme, listen to powerful sharings by adult leaders, share in small groups and leave with a weekly challenge. We meet on the balcony upstairs right after the 6 p.m. Life Teen Mass and end with a meal in the community center. November 1st – “Made For More” The goal of this Life Night is to look at how society views the worth and value of each person compared to how God determines our worth. The youth will understand that their dignity and worth comes from being created in God’s image and that He calls us to into relationship with Himself. November 8th – “For the Love of God” – The goal of this night is to invite youth into a deeper relationship with God and community, recognizing the many gifts in their lives and the universal call to share those gifts with those in need, in particular through the Corporal Works of Mercy. We are going to do a clothing drive this night. We ask that each teen bring an item of clothing to donate (gently used, clean out those closets)! November 15th – Packing Food Bags for SVDP November 22nd – “Hunger Games” – The goal of this night is to broaden the youths’ perspective on the world, particu-larly by looking at poverty around the globe. This reality of poverty will be extended to the idea that the deepest hunger in the world is the hunger for God. We will be making “Blessing Bags” to give those living on the streets. Please bring donations in to help us make these bags (Ziploc bags, cereal bars, mint gum, toothbrushes, travel toothpaste, travel wet wipes, washcloths, soap, combs) November 29th – NO EDGE-THANKSGIVING BREAK Ray Lacy, 863-1610, [email protected]
