Group Visits 2015/2016

Castle School

At Castle School we offer a unique and exciting programme. We guarantee that our experienced teachers will create classes packed full of enjoyable learning activities. Through our afternoon and evening activity programme students will be able to make the most of their stay while practising their English skills. We encourage students to blend in with the local community, so regardless of their culture and language, they will go home speaking better English and with memories to last a lifetime. Brighton is very close to London, and is the ideal location to enjoy the seaside and the beautiful countryside. It is one of the most colourful and extravagant cities in the UK.

Castle School has been operating for 13 years as a specialist, owner run, mid-sized language school. We are right in the heart of this incredibly vibrant city and a two minute walk away from the world famous Brighton beach. Students come to learn English with us because of our fun and supportive learning environment, and also because of the excellent teaching and high success rates in Cambridge examinations. Castle School is ac-credited by the British Council and by English UK and we work hard to ensure consistently high standards. We are very proud of our academic standards. We are also very proud of our dedicated team of friendly and efficient professionals who ensure our homestay and activity programmes are excellent. We strive to meet your needs in every possible way and we will tailor our programme to your requests. We will work closely with you on your requirements in the months prior to your arrival without adopting a “one size fits all” approach.

About Castle School

Castle School Facilities

Homestay Accommodation

We place our students with homestays so that they can practise their English skills outside of school while having the opportunity to experience British culture and family life first hand. We really understand the importance of a good home, and how much this affects students’ overall experience. All our homestays have been viewed and approved, and all families are required to comply with British Council regulations. We work hard to make sure we offer an excel-lent standard of accommodation. This is the Castle way! We do ask that agents and schools inform the students that life in an English home may not be the same as in their own culture. Giving students clear information in advance helps to ensure the entire trip goes well. We have various advice sheets available if you require help in this area.

English Language Programme General English

Brighton We have the privilege of living in a city rich with culture, history and legends. We always use the wonderful city of Brighton as a classroom resource so that students can fully appreciate their experience here. We embrace the diversity by incorporating film and literature related to Brighton into our classes as well as taking our lessons outside to explore the city.

Speaking and Listening We understand how important these skills are and that giving students the opportunity to practise with native speakers is absolutely essential. While working on all other areas, we focus on students improving their speaking and listening by providing them with authentic vocabulary and on increasing their level of confidence.

Methods We always use real life in the classroom and all our activities are designed to be communicative and transferable. We try to build on what students already know and to consolidate that knowledge by giving it the practical application it very often lacks in their home countries.

Cambridge Exams and IELTS

At Castle School we have been teaching ESOL exam courses and IELTS since we opened 13 years ago. Our experienced teachers, and the wealth of material we have, ensure our high pass rates. If your students are preparing for a Cambridge exam, why not make the most of their time in the UK by giving them the oppor-tunity to practise their skills with a na-tive teacher?

Young Business Leaders Course

We offer a young learner business course where higher level students can practise their English skills in the context of business. Running for 1, 2 or 3 weeks, the course aims to give students a basic knowledge of the type of language they will probably need later on in life. The Young Business Leaders Course is project-based and students will be required, by the end of the course, to come up with a viable business plan that could generate profit. Several input sessions by our qualified teachers will give students the tools to facilitate the achievement of their final goal, and then, under the teachers’ supervision, students will work on their group projects semi-independently. At the end of the course each student will have the opportunity to present their work to the rest of the students. We aim this course at our older students, aged 14 +, and believe this is a dynamic and fun approach for students to consolidate their existing knowledge while learning new skills for life.

Activities & Trips Below are a few activities that we offer as part of every trip. Lots more are available on request. However, some of these may attract a surcharge. Please contact us for more details.

Seven Sisters Country Park This trip, to the beautiful cliffs close to Brighton, is one of our students’ favourites. A 40 minute drive from Brighton, students can enjoy fantastic views of these famous cliffs, take a picnic or just relax in the sunshine.

The Royal Pavilion This is Brighton’s most extravagant and unique building, commissioned by an eccentric Prince to throw lavish par-ties and entertain London nobility. The Indian-looking exterior and the impressive Chinese interior are really breath-taking (and surprising!). Even the most museum adverse stu-dent will enjoy it!

London Day Trip London is only 50 minutes away and the students can visit for the whole day and really get to enjoy the city. After a sightseeing walking tour of the main sights, possibly including a visit to one of the city’s famous museums, stu-dents can shop in London’s fabulous shopping areas. Optional activities are a meal at Planet Hollywood and a trip to a West End theatre.
