At Active Kids, we aim to promote an active and healthy lifestyle providing children with home cooked healthy meals, including breakfast, lunch and tea, healthy snacks and fresh drinking water and milk. We also aim to offer a safe open plan setting that stimulates the interests of the children who attend, as well as offering that home from home feel with mixed age ranges. We are looking for a Senor Early Years Practitioner to join our team.

Applicants must have a minimum Level 3 qualification in early years and childcare; experience of managing a team in an early years setting; excellent communication skills and the confidence in forming and maintaining relationships with staff, parents, children and outside agencies. Applicants must also have an excellent understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS); experience of creating inspiring learning environments; experience of planning children’s learning, of making observations, of record keeping and must share our ethos and be keen to help us develop our free-flow setting.

As a senior practitioner you will be responsible for leading and supporting a group of staff, modelling good practice, ensuring the staff daily rota is up to date and ensuring that staff are clear of their duties and following all the setting’s policies. You will also be responsible for a key group of children, plan learning opportunities and ‘next steps’ for the children; carry out observations; deliver the EYFS framework and ensure a welcoming and stimulating environment at all times.

We are looking for a highly motivated manager for our Bright Start Nursery. Bright Start is a busy nursery based in the centre of Brighton near to Jubilee Library and is registered for 55 children. The successful applicant will have high expectations for all children and ensure high standards of learning and care. They will be able to contribute to the commercial success of the nursery, be self-motivated, dynamic, enthusiastic and an inspiring role model.

The manager will oversee, lead and manage the nursery team to ensure continuous improvement to improve children's life chances. The successful candidate will have: an early years degree, or teaching qualification (B.Ed or equivalent) and/or Level 3 /4 qualification in education and childcare (or equivalent recognised qualification in early years work); at least five years’ post qualification experience in early years settings, and three years’ experience at a senior level; experience of managing the development of early education and childcare, managing and developing a staff team, budget management, and providing services to children from a wide range of backgrounds, including those with special educational needs; knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage, Ofsted guidance, and the SEN code of practice; knowledge of training and qualifications for staff working in an early years setting, personnel procedures and legislation, child protection, and equalities practices; leadership skills, and the ability to develop good working relationships with parents, other service providers and the wider community and the ability to market the nursery and maximise fee and other income to the nursery, and to ensure it is financially sustainable.

Home from Home Nursery is located in the heart of Hove on New Church Road. Set in spacious, detached Victorian premises and established for 14 years, we are registered for 44 children per day aged between 10 months and 5 years and operate from 8 am to 6 pm weekdays.

We have a Toddler Unit on the first floor which comprises of three adjacent rooms for children aged between 10 months and 2 years to explore, with a staff to child ratio of 1:2 children receive a “home from home” stimulating experience. Our Toddler Unit also has a separate sleep room with blackout blinds, soothing music and monitors to ensure our children get the undisturbed rest they need. Our Pre-school which is for children aged 2 to 5 years consists of five large rooms for the children to freely explore. Each room has a different emphasis and has been designed in accordance with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum. Our staff to child ratio of 1:4 in the Pre-school allows for the perfect balance between child-initiated learning and adult led opportunities. Also the mix of different ages creates a family-like experience where the older children provide good role model behaviour to the young. In addition we also have a 100 foot garden with cherry trees, allotment and outdoor 'snug' which the children and staff equally enjoy.

We would describe our staff as caring, motivated, proactive and inspired and we are looking for a Level 3 qualified Early Years practitioner to join our team. Applicants must have a good understanding of childcare and child development; have experience of being a key worker and of planning and identifying children’s learning; have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to build a rapport with children and their families.

The role entails working as a member of the Nursery team and showing initiative and creativity whilst fostering an environment which encourages the children's all-round development where high standards of care are provided. Duties include keeping records on children's progress and achievements; assisting with planning of activities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage; assisting with the creation of a stimulating, creative environment and assisting with care, maintenance and security.

We support the continual professional development of our staff by encouraging them to attend external short course training and to develop their own careers with further education. We have a robust appraisal system with quarterly supervision meetings with line managers and monthly staff meetings which create a culture of learning and we also enjoy the occasional staff social. My First Friends Nursery is a community based nursery, situated across the field from Westdene Primary School. Starfish Kids Club is a not for profit company that runs childcare in Brighton and Hove for school aged children, aged from 4 to 11. Our team of experienced and qualified playworkers provide a quality play environment that is safe, fun and welcoming to all children. We work hard to offer a range of activities that children enjoy, including lots of arts and crafts, free play and sports.
