Grinnell College Baseball Class of 2021 Grinnell, Iowa Grinnell College is proud to announce the class of 2021. This group includes 15 new student-athletes with interest in playing baseball. Coach Hollibaugh on the class of 2021: “This is a talented class. We added depth where needed a bolstered our pitching staff with some dynamic arms. With hard work, this class will be outstanding while having a chance to compete for a championship every season!” 28 players return (22 letter winners) from the Midwest Conference 2017 Southern Division Champions.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND: Seth was a member of the honor roll all four years and was involved in the Comedy Club, Drama Club, Sports Fitness Education Club and Ski Club. He participated in 5 plays over the course of 3 years and was also the editor-in-chief of our school newspaper during his senior year. Bartusek also did volunteer work as a mentor/demonstrator for DNA sports and worked as a packer/unboxer for Lakeview food pantry. Seth enjoys reading, watching movies, playing ultimate Frisbee, playing pond hockey, improv and listening to music. Seth has been to 22 countries and 40 states.

BASEBALL BACKGROUND: Bartusek was a 2 year captain and two year varsity member of Jones College Prep baseball team. He also played on the club teams of Welles Park Bees and RBI Baseball Santos Superstars.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND: Jared was a member of the National Honors Society, United States Army Reserve National Scholar Athlete Award and Academic All-State in both Baseball & Football. Booth volunteered at the Mount Vernon United Methodist Church. He enjoys Video Games and Ping Pong.

BASEBALL BACKGROUND: Booth, who was a four year starter for his high school team, was 1st Team All-Conference as well as 1st Team All-District his senior year. He was 2nd Team All-Conference and District his junior season. Jared attended the Iowa Junior Showcase as well as the Never Say Can’t Baseball Showcase. Booth also was a standout for his high school football team.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND: Ryan was recognized as the Rachel Austin Award winner as well as won the English Award and Social Studies Award. Chang played Football, baseball and was the Multimedia Editor for Viking Sports Magazine (gold medalist nominee for Columbia Scholastic Press Association). He also was a Volunteer assistant coach for local Babe Ruth League as well as helped with private baseball coach for little leaguers. Chang enjoys Fishing, Golf, Basketball, Football, video games and Fantasy Sports. He has traveled to Taiwan (parents home country), Japan and China

BASEBALL BACKGROUND: Chang was first team all-league and SCVAL (Santa Clara Valley Athletic League) Co-Pitcher of the Year his senior season. Palo Alto was the SCVAL Champion all four years during his career. He was a JV Silver Slugger and Cy Young award winner. He was on the varsity for four years and a two year starter. Ryan attended Stanford Rising Stars Camp, Stanford All Star Camp, Headfirst Honor Roll Camp Sacramento and the Top 96 Malibu. He also played on Team Kado, All Out Acorns, California Club Baseball, SF Eagles and the Palo Alto Panthers.

Academic Background: Guieb was a National Honor Society member. He was actively involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), Outdoor Education Counselor with the middle, elementary school students camps, Summer School teaching aide for 6th/7th grade orientation and The League. He also volunteered for teachers for Sunday school at his Church. Riley enjoys hiking, bodysurfing and playing the ukulele.

Baseball Background: Riley was a captain his senior year and was a three year starter. Guieb was named All Conference 2nd team, All Hawaii 2nd team, Honolulu Star-Advertiser Honorable Mention, was the Senior Athletic Award of Honor winner and Senior Scholar Athlete Award winner for Baseball. He attended the Arizona Fall Showcase (Team Hawaii). He also played on Hawaii Baseball Group (HBG) and Team Hawaii.

He was a 4-year Mount Rainier High School Honor Roll Member and received his International Baccalaureate Diploma. He was honored by the Spanish Honor Society and the Environmental Club. Cooper Volunteered at youth summer baseball and basketball camps. He enjoys playing the guitar and piano.

BASEBALL BACKGROUND: Cooper was selected as a starting outfielder to the 2017 NPSL 4A All-Star Game. As a two year starter and team captain, King was also selected to the 2017 NPSL 4A All League Team. He attended the University of Puget Sound Baseball Showcase and played on the DMNP Cannons, RIPS Brewers, Washington Senators and the Mount Rainier Bighorns. ACADEMIC BACKGROUND: Lewis was a member of the National Honors Society, finished in the Top 5% of class and received Math, English, French, History, Physical Education Department Awards. He was the NHS treasurer, involved in the Environmental Club Member, a reporter for BMHS newspaper as well as a reporter for School District of Beloit Blog. Avery volunteered at Our Lady of Assumption church and enjoys reading and traveling. Avery has traveled to Mexico and Canada. He also lived in Florence, Italy for a short time.

BASEBALL BACKGROUND: Avery was a three year varsity member, captain his senior year and won the Purple Knights Award (given to player who best represents BMHS baseball program) his senior year. Lewis attended the Grinnell College Baseball camp and the Kenosha Baseball Showcase. He played on the Beloit Legion Baseball, and the Rockford Big Dogs Travel Team. He was also captain of the volleyball- junior year.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND: Lu was on the Honor Roll in every year of high school. He was also involved in CSF, Wounded Warriors and SAAC during high school. He also volunteered at the Foothill High School fundraisers, Foothill High School field work and the Open Heart Kitchen. Nathan enjoys coaching, hanging out with friends, video games, working out, playing basketball, spending time with family and my dog, and watching sports. Lu has traveled to Taiwan, Mexico, Canada and Japan.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND: Daniel graduated with Highest Honors and was a National Honor Society member. He was also a Freshman Mentor Program as well as also the President of Students Helping Soldiers. He volunteered for Buddy Baseball and enjoys sports, video games and working out. Daniel has also traveled to Mexico. Something you might not know about Daniel is he was the Cupcake boss in his gourmet foods class and he is the team guy that will always have the seeds.

BASEBALL BACKGROUND: Lubelfeld was a two time Academic All-Conference performer, attended the Head First camp in Long Island as well as the Chicagoland Classic showcase. ACADEMIC BACKGROUND: Quinton was in the top 10% of Class and received honors in English Literature Subject Award and the Environmental Science Subject Award. He was involved in National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society and DECA. He also did volunteer Work with the March of Dimes and political campaigns. McNitt enjoys hanging out with friends and family as well as being on the water. What you might not know about Quinton is that he has two sisters. Kaylee is sixteen and Allanne is thirteen.

BASEBALL BACKGROUND: McNitt was a four year varsity starter. His High School team was 7A District Runner-Up, 7A Regional Quarterfinals, 7A District Winner & State Regional Semi-Finalists. Quinton won the Team Award his senior year and the Coaches’ Award his junior season. Hew was also a two x Defensive MVP. He was also honored as a two x Second Team All Area Big School: as well as being named All Area Big School Honorable Mention twice. McNitt attended the Headfirst Honor Roll Showcase-Long Island camp, Dartmouth Camp, Stanford All Stars Camp, Columbia Camp, University of Pennsylvania Camp, Harvard Camp and the University of Florida Camp. He played on the Florida Hardballers and Gatorball Baseball Academy.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND: Ryan was on the High Honor Roll for 7 semesters and graduating with Honors while being a member of the National Honor Society. He was active in Bric Brothers and CSF. Moeller also volunteered by working with the Elderly, helped with developmentally disabled children and assisted with underprivileged youth. He enjoys tutoring, working out, playing video Games (Madden, NBA 2K, MLB the Show), playing ping pong and fishing. He has traveled to Mexico and Canada

BASEBALL BACKGROUND: Moeller was a four year scholar athlete while playing for the varsity for two season as a starting pitcher. He attended Stanford All-Star Baseball Camp, Headfirst Honor Roll Showcase, Grinnell Prospect Camp, San Jose State Prospect Camp, Holy Cross Prospect Camp, William & Mary Prospect Camp, UCSD Prospect Camp, Wheaton Prospect Camp, Harvard Prospect Camp, Cal Poly Prospect Camp, Bay Area World Series and the Arizona Fall Classic. He also played for Trosky Baseball, Zoots Baseball, Mission City Baseball, Connecticut Wolfpack and the California Bees.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND: Pine received the National AP Scholar Award as well as the President’s Award for Academic Excellence. He was also involved the Sports editor/writer for the newspaper, involved in Ultimate Frisbee Club, and recreational basketball/flag football. Ezra volunteered for Fundraiser for Children’s National Medical Center as well as the USY Youth Group. He enjoys working out, watching sports, playing sports with friends and Reading/Writing. What you might not know about Ezra Pine is that he is a huge fantasy sports guy, especially fantasy baseball. Ezra has traveled to England, Puerto Rico, Mexico and the Dominican Republic.

BASEBALL BACKGROUND: Ezra was a Scholar Athlete Award in grades 10-12 and a three year varsity letter winner. He attended the Head First Honor Roll camp in Long Island as well as attended the Grinnell College and Kenyon College baseball camps. He played on B-CC Patriots and the Whitman Vikings.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND: Thompson was a National Honor Society member and a Golden Tiger. He was involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He also volunteered as a church usher, little league umpire and helped with various camps. Rick enjoys fishing, hunting and cooking.

BASEBALL BACKGROUND: Rick was a 3 year starter on his high school team where he garnered First Team All District and First Team All State while be selected to the North/South All-Star Game. He attend the Headfirst Honor Roll Camp, Stanford Camp and NTIS Local/Regional/National tryouts. He also played on the Albuquerque Baseball Academy and the New Mexico School of Baseball.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND: Taylor was a First Honors, Freshman year Quarters 1-4, First Honors, Sophomore year Quarters 1-4, First Honors, Junior year Quarters 1-4, Second Honors, Senior year Quarters 1-3 and First Honors, Senior year Quarter 4. He participated in the First Robotics Competition Team 97 (Freshman-Senior year, co-captain senior year). Taylor has helped coach a little league team in the North Cambridge Little Baseball League and participated in the Charles River Cleanup Project. He enjoys playing the bass guitar, hiking and fly fishing. Zeke also recently adopted and begun rebuilding part of his grandfather’s Lionel electric train set. He has been to Hong Kong, England, France, Germany, Switzerland and Canada. What you might not know about Zeke loves to play the bass guitar and is in a rock band with some good friends for the last several years. They put a few songs on Spotify and iTunes, check out Angry Toddlers on either one.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND: Weirather was won the Yale book award, AP scholar with honors, President of national French honor society, National honor society member, National English Honor society member, Silver garland nominee - nominated for outstanding service, “Big dog” award - given to high school senior that embodies “the all saints way” voted by other students, Class president sophomore year, Senior Justice on Honor Council 11th-12th grade, Co- Founder of Teens for Troops - club that wrote letter to local veterans, we partnered with our local American legion. Weirather was involved in Special Olympics Volunteer and Annual Batter's box of Lakeland baseball camp - taught young kids the fundamentals of baseball . Brock loves playing baseball and football as well as reading Harry Potter. He has also traveled to Mexico, Canada and France.

He was also pitcher of year four times for his high school team as well as team MVP. In football he received All county honorable mention football and was the team’s Unsung Hero 12th grade football while being captain his senior year. He attended Grinnell College camp, Harvard camp, the University of Florida, Florida State and Florida Gulf Coast University baseball camps. He also played on the Lakeland Legends in the summer.

Justin was Class Board, Co-Treasurer, involved in Peer Leadership and the Interact Club. He also Volunteered at the Misericordia Heart of Mercy Campus, Youth Baseball Coaching and was a Tutor.
