Students from 4
schools in Adams County
recently put over 200
pieces of their own art on
display at the All County
Art Show at West Union
High School.
The annual show
featured artwork by area
schools for grades 7th -
12th.
"Each year our
young artist get better and
better. I'm always amazed
at how creative and talented
some of the students are in
our area. The show is a
great way to show off their
work to their families and
community," said Mrs.

art teacher.
For the March 27
show, Felicity Haag, a
junior at Manchester High
School & Ohio Valley
Career and Technical
Center, created two
Origami swans. "I used
folded construction paper,
or the method called
Origami to create two
swans. At first the
technique was challenging,
but after mastering the
pattern and design of
folding the paper, the
process became easier."

Art Award in the 3-
dimensional category.
Breanna O'Connell,
also a junior at Manchester
High School, received the
honorable mention Joan
Wittenmyer McCoy Art
Award on her 2-D
watercolor piece called
"Not Your Average
Girl." Breanna's
sketchbook that presented a
variation of her drawings,
medium and styles, also
earned her the third place
Joan Wittenmyer McCoy
Art Award in the 3-
dimensional category. “I’m
really happy my
sketchbook received third
place. I feel the work
displays all my artistic
abilities, including my style
and my favorite medium,
watercolor.” Breanna had
an abundant of artwork on
display at the show. Her

Manchester FFA State Contest and
Flower Sales
March 23rd the Manchester FFA
students traveled to Columbus, Ohio for State
Livestock, Wildlife Management and Equine
Judging. In the Equine Judging category,
Illiana Farmakis received 1st place, Zoi
Farmakis received 2nd place, Doris Tadlock
received 3rd place and Cheyanne Breeze
received 4th place. Andrea Parker received 1st
place in the general livestock team while,
Wyatt Taylor got 2nd place, Taylor Ogden
received 3rd, Hannah Wagner got 4th, Lorali’
Newman got 5th place, Logan Bryant 6th
place, Chase McDonald got 7th, Zander
White got 8th and Denton White received 9th.
For the month of April, Manchester
FFA will be selling hanging baskets from
their own greenhouse. There will be Purple
Wondering Jews, Ferns, Bridal Veils, and
Rhapsody Wandering Jew mixes. They will
be $15 each. Anticipated pickup will be April
16th. In the first week of May there will be an
additional 300 hanging baskets, consisting
of: Wave Petunias, Wave Petunia & Verbena
mixes, Million Bell mixes, in many other
colors. They will vary in pricing. FFA will
also be hosting a banquet where they hand out
awards and they will be recognizing people.
This will be held on April 24th.
Manchester FFA had their 65th annual
banquet which was held April 24, 2018.
There were several awards given out. The top
three sales people from mum sales,
strawberry sales, and hanging basket sales
were awarded. Josie Campbell won 1st place
for hanging baskets selling $1,500 worth.
There was a tie between Illiana Farmakis and
Hannah Wagner for 2nd place on hanging
basket sales. For strawberry sales Hannah
Wagner placed 1st selling $528 worth of
strawberries, Josie Campbell placed 2nd
selling $416 worth of strawberries, and
Maegann Stamm placed 3rd selling $312
worth of Strawberries. For Mum Sales Josie
Campbell placed 1st selling $925 worth of
mums, Hannah Wagner placed 2nd $605
worth, and Karigan Turner placed 3rd with
$585 worth.
Awarded for the top five of the fruit
sell were: 1st place Josie Campbell, 2nd place
Billie Kinhalt, 3rd place Hannah Wagner, 4th
place Zoe Arnold, and 5th place Gabby
Brown. The Star Greenhand Award went to
Zander White. The Star Chapter Award went
to Maegann Stamm. The Jr. Leadership
Award went to Taylor Ogden. The Senior
Leadership Award went to Josie Campbell.

plaques for getting their state degrees and
Miranda Schlitz was awarded a plaque for
receiving here American Degree

….and the Roaring 20’s are back!
The 2019 Prom Committee chose
“the Roaring 20s” as the prom theme. It was
a “swinging” evening at the Limestone
Center in Maysville, on the 27th of April.
On the moring of Thursday, April 25,
the Georgetown Post of Highway Patrol
Officers met with all who are planning to
attend the prom to refresh memories of the
effects of drinking, use of drugs, and texting
while driving. As always, this is a mandatory
assembly. Please be aware that it is the
responsibility of the prom attendees to notify
the employers, post-secondary/college
insturcots, CTC instructors, and parent that
this in mandatory by the school.
The actual prom festivities began
with the Grand March commencing at 5:00 in
the MHS cafetorium. Photos were taken by
photographer, Kevin Hoop. Then they were
on to Lundy’s at 601 Bernard Coughlin,
Maysville, Kentucky. Dinner, catered by
Caproni’s was served at 7:00 pm. The
mouthwatering menu was Tossed Garden
Salad, Oven Baked Chicken, Garlic Smashed
Potatoes, Country Style Green Beans, Dinner
Rolls wigh Creamy Butter, Pound Cake with
Berries, and beverages of Iced Tea,
Lemonade and Water. Dancing to the music
of DJ, Marci Schnider, and her troupe filled
the night air with memoris to cherish.
Entertainment was provided by Phil Dalton
with Mind Blowing Magic. Phil has
performed over 50 shows in 50 states. During
his show, Phil split himself, escaped from a
straight jacket and performed a vanishing act.
As the evening wound down, the
crowning of junior class prince, Carl Ricketts
and princess, Taylor Ogden and the Senior
class king, Wesley Jones and queen, Kaitlyn
Palmer were announced.
The ladies and gentlemen were
dressed to impress.

Boys Baseball
The Manchester Greyhounds are 8-9
on the season. They lost to Eastern Brown 7-
6; lost to West Union 10-0; lost to
Lynchburg-Clay 13-5; lost to Fairfield 7-5;
lost to North Adams 13-6; and won against
East in a double header 10-1. The first game,
with Jackson Poole pitching, had 4 hits with
the win, and the second game was 19-10.
They then would go to Whiteoak where the
Greyhounds fell short with a score of 7-3.
The next two games were at home where they
defeated Ripley and Peebles.
They split a double header at
Manchester with one win and one loss. Then
they would come back and win against
Peebles 9-1. They defeated Ironton St. Joe
10-7. The next game was a loss to Fairfield
14-8.
Then they would be on the road
against Portsmouth Clay where they defeated
Clay with a score of 12-2. They were loose
their next game against whiteoak 11-1. They
will be on the road the next two games
against Western Lathem and Raceland Ky.

Softball
The Manchester Lady Hounds
Softball Team has had a great season so far
this year. The girls have a winning record of
14-6 in the
league and 7-
5 in the
SHAC. The
games that
they have
lost, they’ve
only beat
themselves
and are
continuing to
excel
throughout
the season.
They have had two losses to Pebbles, two to
Fairfield, and one to Eastern. April 24th was
senior night for the girls. They had a big
crowd and played a great game. Due to
inclement weather, the Lady Hounds game
was stopped and will be finished on a later
date. They were up 11-1 when it started
storming. Madison Jones and Brooke
Kennedy have both pitched perfect games
this year. Madison Jones was close to
pitching her second perfect game against
Whiteoak. She struck out 13 of the 19 batters,
that she faced to help the Lady Hounds come
out on top. The girls have a tough week ahead
of them, but are hoping to continue
improving their record and get a sectional
title this season.

April Students of the Month
Brayden Young
Brayden Young enjoys playing
golf, basketball, and baseball here at
MHS. He is involved in senior beta and
student council. He enjoys listening to
all kinds of music but his favorite artist
right now is Postmalone. Some of
Brayden’s best friends are Zander
White, Denton White and Logan Bell. In
his spare time, he likes to watch the
Bengals, the Reds, Ohio State, the
Cowboys and Golden State Warriors.
His role models are Donald Trump and
his parents. The one thing Brayden
would like to see changed here at school
is more support for the sports teams.
Brayden’s favorite movie is
Major League and his favorite TV show
is Survivor. His favorite video game is
Fortnite. His biggest pet peeve is when
he doesn’t do something right. His
favorite teacher is Mr. Nelson and his
favorite class is American History. The
one thing he can’t live without is being
in charge. Brayden said he likes to play
sports, be involved in his school and
participate in Sr. Beta and student
council. His favorite holiday is
Christmas. After graduating, Brayden
plans to go to college.
Elisa Brown
Elisa is the junior student of the
month for April. Here at MHS, she is
involved in Senior Beta, National Honor
Society, and Spanish Club. She also takes
several CCP classes her at the high
school.
In her spare time, she enjoys
spending time with friends and family.
Some of her best friends are Illiana
Farmakis, Alyssa Grooms, Jalyn Thacker
and Taylor Ogden. Her favorite holiday is
Christmas. Her sister and her dad are her
role models and the one thing she cannot
live without is her family. The one things
she would like to see changed at school is
the disrespect. Her favorite subject is
math but her favorite teacher is Mrs.
Lovejoy. Taking her food without her
permission is her biggest pet peeve.
Elisa’s favorite food is fried chicken and
cheeseball and her favorite restaurant is
Tumbleweed. She said her favorite music
to listen to is anything that doesn’t hurt
her ears. Pitch Perfect 3 is her favorite
movie. The sports teams she enjoys
watching are UK Backetball, OSU
Football, and Cincinnati Reds.
After graduation, Elisa plans to go
to college and then get a job.
April Junior High Students of the Month
Greg Daley
The eighth grade junior high
student of the month is Greg Daley. Greg
is thirteen-years-old and his favorite class
is science. Mr. Davis, the science teacher,
is his favorite teacher.
He would like to see the school
give less work and he enjoys country
music. Greg’s role models are his dad and
his cousin and his favorite holiday is
Hanukah.
Greg’s biggest pet peeve is having
to wake up for school and and stay there
all day.
Outside of school, he likes to
watch TV and play Black Ops 3.

Kayden Butcher
The seventh grade junior high
student of the month is Kayden Butcher.
Kayden is thirteen-years-old and is
involved in beta, football, basketball, and
baseball here at Manchester. His favorite
teacher is Mrs. Turner and he would like
to see the phone policy be changed.
All American and Bumblebee are
his favorite TV show and movie. He likes
listening to X. Kayden’s role model is his
mom and the one thing he says he can’t
live without are his parents.
In his spare time, he plays
Battlefield V. His favorite sports team is
the Seattle Seahawks and when Kayden
graduates, he plans on attending college.

Senior Profiles
Josie Campbell
The senior profile of the month
is Miss Josie Campbell. Josie
participates in many activities here at
MHS. She is involved in basketball,
softball, golf, Sr. Beta, National Honor
Society, FFA, National Art Honor
Society, Student Council, and
Greyhound Pride.
In her spare time, Josie enjoys
farming and being with her family and
friends. Some of her closest friends are
McKenzie Smith, Jacob Calvert, and
Taylor Morrison. Country music is her
favorite kind of music and Old
Dominion is her favorite artist.
After graduation, Josie plans to
attend Shawnee State University
acquire a Bachelor’s in Education and
a Master’s in speech therapy. She also
plans to start up an organic farm
business.
Colton Bohl
Colton Bohl is a senior at
Manchester High School. Colton says
he has many friends and cannot choose
a best one friend. As far as watching
professional sports, Colton likes to
watch the Cyclones, the Steelers and
the Nets. His favorite food is oysters.
His favorite song is “Save a Horse,
Ride a Cowboy” by Big and Rich.
Some of Colton’s favorite
hobbies are hunting and fishing.
Colton said his favorite holiday is
Christmas because he loves to give and
receive gifts from family and friends.
Colton used to live in Sardinia, Ohio
but moved to Manchester in first grade.
After high school, Colton plans
to go straight into the workforce.
Junior Profiles
Caymden Hughes
Caymden was born June 15th and
she is fifteen-years-old. She is the
daughter of Nicole Hughes and she has
two older brothers, Matthew and Austin
Hughes. Caymden has many best friends
which include, Peyton Apgar, Sammie
Young, Mackenzie Leadingham, Kylie
Abbott, Melanie Thatcher, and Madison
Payne. Her favorite class is biology
because it is interesting.
Caymden is very active in school.
She is involved in cheerleading, Sr. Beta,
National Honor Society, and National Art
Honor Society. Her favorite movie is The
Longest Ride and her favorite song is
"Heaven” by Kane Brown. In Caymden's
free time, she enjoys taking her dog on
walks and spending time with her
boyfriend, Zach James. Her favorite
restaurant is Olive Garden and her
favorite television show is I am Jazz.
After high school, Caymden plans to go
to college to become a surgeon or a
zoologist.
Colton Bohl
Declan Huron
This month's junior boy profile is
Declan Conner Huron. He is the son of
Heidi and Luke Huron. Declan was born
September 23, 2002 and he is fifteen-
years-old. Declan has two older siblings,
Macy and Nicholas Huron. His best
friends are Nathaniel Peterson, Jalen
James, Tanner Utterback, Aaron Hanson,
and Dalton Williams. Declan also has one
pet.
Declan's favorite television show
is Game of Thrones and his favorite
movie is The Notebook. In his spare time,
Declan enjoys playing basketball. His
favorite class is English because "Mrs.
Lovejoy is my favorite teacher." Declan
participates in basketball, track, and cross
country. His favorite restaurant is
Outback or Olive Garden and his favorite
song is "Plug Walk" by Rich The Kid.
After high school, Declan plans to go to
college.

Maegann Stamm
Maegann Stamm is a tenth grade
student here at Manchester and is
involved in a few activities/sports at the
school. She was born January
21st. Maegann is a member of FFA and
also runs track along with cross country.
She says that her favorite teacher at the
school is Mr. Sparks because she loves
FFA and he’s always there for her.
Her favorite music artist is Khalid.
In her spare time, she likes to hang out
with her friends and run. Maegann says
she would love to move to Florida
someday. After high school, she plans to
go to college to be a pediatrician.

Hunter Gaffin
Hunter Gaffin is a tenth grade
student here at Manchester High School.
Hunters birthday is May 1st. He has 4
siblings which are 3 brothers and 1 sister.
In his spare time, Hunter likes to fish, play
video games, hunt and listen to music.
Hunters favorite music artist is
XXXTentacion.
Hunter has lived in New Jersey and
here in Manchester. Hunters best friend is
Gage Kinhalt. His favorite sports team to
watch is the Cincinnati Reds. He says his
favorite holiday is Christmas because he
likes spending time with his family and
friends. One of Hunters favorite T.V.
shows is Trailer Park Boys.

Jada Francis
Jada Francis is a fourteen-year
old freshman here at Manchester High
School. In her spare time, she likes to
listen to music and spent time with her
boyfriend. Her favorite type of music is
rap and her favorite movie is Mean
Girls. Jada’s favorite holiday is
Christmas because she loves getting
new things and spending time with her
family and friends. Jada’s best friend is
McKenzie Morrison.
The thing Jada is looking forward
to the most is graduating here at
Manchester High School. Her biggest
pet peeve is when people keep clicking
their pens. Her favorite sports team is
the Bengals. After graduating Jada plans
to go to college.

Caleb Wortman
Caleb Wortman is a fourteen-
year-old freshman here at Manchester
High School. In his spare time, he likes
to play video games and go fishing.
Caleb’s best friends are Isaiah Scott and
Shaun Gould. His favorite holiday is
Christmas because he loves getting
presents. The thing Caleb is looking
forward to the most is graduating.
Caleb’s favorite music is rap
music and his favorite movie is
Madagascar. His biggest pet peeve is
people chewing with their mouth open.
His favorite sports team in the Bengals.
One thing Caleb would like to be
changed at this school is the cell phone
policy. After graduating, Caleb plans to
go to college but is not sure where yet.

Eighth Grade Profiles
Kristopher Saunders
Kristopher Saunders is an eighth
grader at Manchester Junior High
School. He was born December 22nd.
His parents are Jeremy and Jessika
Saunders. He has one older sister,
Kiersten.
Kristopher’s best friends are
Levi Justice and Anthony Bar. On his
spare time, he enjoys spending time
with his friends, jumping on the
trampoline and skateboarding around
any parking lot. Kristopher’s favorite
movie is the Titanic and his favorite tv
show is South Park, and his favorite
song is "Astronaut Kid.”

Maggie Roberts
Maggie Roberts is an eighth
grader at Manchester Junior High
School. Her parents are Nick and
Crystal Roberts. Maggie was born
December 18th. She has one brother,
Braylen Roberts. Her best friends are
Jenna Campbell, Emily Applegate, and
Zoey Fusch.
Maggie has two dogs and one cat.
She is involved in multiple sports at
Manchester High School, including
volleyball, basketball, softball and is in
Junior Beta Club.
Maggie would be interested in
playing soccer if Manchester had that
sport. Her biggest fear is losing a family
member that she loves dearly.

Seventh Grade Profiles
Madion Beach
Madison Beach is twelve-years-old
and is the seventh grade female profiled this
month. In her spare time, she like to text, call
and take selfies. Her favorite music artist is
XXXtection. Her best friends are Bailey,
Shyla, and Katrina. Halloween is her favorite
holiday. She said here at school she would
like to see longer art classes. Mr. Davis is her
favorite teacher and science is her favorite
subject. The Tennessee Titans are her
favorite sports team. The one thing she
cannot live without is her phone.
Madison’s role models are her friends
who don’t get in trouble and turn their work
in on time and some teachers who know what
they are doing. She is looking forward to
getting a good education and plans on going
to college and getting a degree in teaching.
Madison said she loves texting and calling
her friends every day and taking selfies with
her friends on Snapchat. She also loves
swimming and she has tons of friends; boys
and girls.
Logan Neria
Logan is a seventh grader here at
Manchester. He is involved in baseball,
football, and basketball here at school. In his
spare time, he likes playing Zelda. His
favorite music is Three Days Grace. Some of
his best friends are Dominique, Thomas,
Ethan, Dylan, Andrew and Ryan. Christmas
is his favorite holdiay. His dad is his role
model. The one thing he would like to see
changed at school is the no phone rule. One
thing he is looking forward to is the Starwars
Episode 9 and his favorite movie is Starwars
Revenge of the Sith. His biggest pet peeves
are dying in video games and doing chores.
Logan’s favorite teacher is Mr. Davis.His
favorite sports team to watch is the Dallas
Cowboys.
Logan says the things he can’t live
without are oxygen, dogs and Coca Cola. His
plans for the future are to go to college and
then on the either the NFL or MLB. Logan’s
favorite games series is the Ledgend of Zelda
and his favorite movie series is Starwars. His
favorite sports are baseball and football.
