INDEX NOTE

The first part of the catalogue includes 20 short films that were produced in 2018 and have been financed by the Geek Film Cen-tre in the framework of the provided funding programs or sup-ported for their promotion in international film festivals.

The second part of the catalogue includes 11 short films in pro-gress, financed by the Greek Film Centre at the production stage, which will be completed in 2019-2020. At this stage they are seeking for post production support and for world and interna-tional premiere in film festivals.

In a modern version of the Sisyphus myth, a homeless mid-dle-aged man finds refuge in the old airport of Ellinikon. The abandoned and deserted landscape dictates his daily routines until everything starts falling apart. “Newstria” is a utopian land or pure happiness. The film is set in the 30’s, when the large cruise ship “Chimera” sails off in search of Newstria. Businessmen, bourgeois, artists, musi-cians, sailors, workers, chefs and the captain with his daugh-ter are all traveling on board in search of a better tomorrow. Gradually though, things start going south. Someone spots a water ingress at the cargo hold. A leak at the engine from the bridge deck. The ship begins to tilt. Nobody is alarmed as they all believe that when they reach Newstria they will be saved. Except the ship never reaches Newstria. It sinks…. Leaving only one survivor behind.
