Dear Parents,
Greetings from DPS-MIS!!!
After bidding a cheerful adieu to the bygone session, DPS-MIS once again greeted the new
academic session 2019-20 with a feeling of achievement, new hopes and aspirations. With this
beginning of new dawn, all the classes again bustled with eagerness, new and happy faces ready
to learn and we, the parents and teachers being the power pillars of the establishment worked
together and maintain a conducive learning atmosphere for the future ambassadors.
We, at DPS-MIS firmly believe that learning is multi-dimensional; thereby we prepare our
students to compete in global arena so as to emerge out to bring laurels to the school and nation
as well. In fact, our pedagogical ideology transcends the confines of the classrooms and pages of
textbooks to a more multi- faceted approach. For us, education means to learn effectively, think
creatively, develop adequate emotional intellect, apply and understand concepts to make
decisions. This quarterly newsletter gives you an overview of the activities conducted during
these three months and we wholeheartedly appreciate your support in making learning a joyful
and memorable experience.

As a part of comprehensive evaluation, the
first cycle of Weekly test completed for the
academic year2019-20.
Monthly assignments for all subjects were
uploaded to promote regular practice and
encourage proper planning and scheduling.
Believing that monthly test motivates the
students to remain abreast with the portion
taught, slip tests were conducted in all subjects.
Parent-Teacher Meeting was held on 2nd May
2019 for class X and 1st May 2019 for class
IX to provide a common platform to the
parents and the teachers to discuss the child’s
academic performance and other related
issues and collectively create a conducive
atmosphere to enrich the student’s educational
experiences.
Parent Rep election was also conducted during
the PTM and Parent Reps were elected for
class IX & X.
CBSE registration forms were uploaded to
facilitate the students’ registration with CBSE.
Remedial and Saturday classes were
conducted to improve the performance of the
students.
DPS-MIS prodigies of grade X 2018-19
complemented the streaming pride of
excellence yet again with their stupendous
results. Ashutosh Srivastava topped the school
with 98.2% marks.

DPS-MIS’S MUN delegates were honored once
again for showcasing exceptionally diplomatic
performance at GCIMUN-NEW YORK-USA-
2019.
Two of the DPS students Mr. Kapil Pownikar and
Mr. Rumman Washid were honored with the
awards of Honorable Mention for their brilliant
work in portraying their delegations’ stand on an
international issue from a diplomatic
perspective.
On , 25th April 2019,a mock fire and evacuation drill was conducted to create awareness about
disaster management and equip the students and staff with safety measures to be adopted in
case of an emergency, which involved all the students from Nursery to XII, teaching and non-
teaching staff.
Class Assemblies of class IX were conducted and were indeed a show of vibrancy, creativity,
and effervescence.
Classes IX and X exhibited their teamwork creative and artistic skills by displaying their bulletin
boards monthly.
DPS-MIS organized annual excursion trip to Russia for its students.
DPS-Modern Indian School quizzers participated in
Sci-Quest Inter School Science Quiz, held at Ideal
Indian School on 29th April 29, 2019 and bagged
the 3rd Position. The team comprised of Nandini-
Grade IX, Tanishq Shekhar-Grade X, and Bilal
Ahmed Assadi- Grade XI.
As part of the school’s initiative to serve the community, all the students of DPS-Modern Indian
School from Nursery to Grade XII voluntarily involved themselves in charity by donating food
items and other utility items for the less privileged section of the society during the Holy month
of Ramadan. Approximately 5 tons of essential food items and other commodities were collected
and the proceeds were distributed in the labor camp and Detention Centre on 30th May 2019.
DPS-MIS secures first prize in the junior category of ICBF HAJIKKA MEMORIAL INTER-SCHOOL
ESSAY COMPETITION - 2019-20. Sarah Kamlesh Somaiya of Grade IX bagged the 1st position in
the Junior Category.
Ms. Deepa Chakraborty and Ms. Steffi Francis ,
faculty members of DPS Modern Indian School,
attended a two-days Advanced Judges Training
Workshop on 15th & 17th April 2019, at the Qatar
Debate Classroom, HBKU Student Centre, Qatar
Foundation.
DPS-Modern Indian School organized
the ‘Scholar Badge &All Rounders’
Award Ceremony to felicitate the
multitude of meritorious students from
Grades VIII, IX &XI who proved their
mettle in the field of academics and
extra- curricular activities in the
academic year 2018-19. A total of
182 students were awarded with
trophies, badges, certificates, blue
blazers and blue ties, gold medal and
special award for their outstanding
academic and all round performance.
DPS-Modern Indian School participated in the
Middle School Model United Nations (MSMUN)
from 19.04.2019 to 20.04.2019 held at the Qatar
National Convention Center (QNCC). 19
delegates and 7 student officers from the school
represented People’s Republic of China, Republic
of Finland and the Republic of Indonesia.
DPS- Modern Indian School participated in one of the most prestigious celebrations, BHARAT UTSAV
- A Journey through Festive Celebrations of India, organized by Indian Cultural Centre, under the
aegis of the Embassy of India, Doha- Qatar.
DPS-Modern Indian School organized an orientation program for the students of classes IX &X on
“Remodeled CBSE Assessment Structure” on 9th April, 2019.The resource person Ms. Ashraf
Sultana, CBSE Coordinator IX-X, apprised the students of the restructured examination pattern of
CBSE applicable in 2019-20.
As a part of its community welfare drive, DPS-Modern Indian School, in collaboration with Hamad
Medical Centre (HMC), hosted a blood donation campaign in its premises on 10th April, 2019.

DPS-MIS teams excelled in Qatar
Schools Debating League-II amongst 21
schools, 28 teams and 84 debaters. DPS
team with Sparsh Chowdhary , Aarav
Bedi and Shubh Srivastava turned 16th
with 2 wins.
On 11th April 2019, DPS-Modern Indian School organized a felicitation ceremony to appreciate the
dedication and punctuality of the 100% attendance achievers from Grade VI to IX & XI (2018-19).
Indian Community Benevolent Forum applauded the
outstanding contribution of the institution for the
Community welfare and felicitated the Principal Ms.
Asna Nafees with an appreciation file in a ceremony
conducted on ICBF DAY 2019.
DPS Modern Indian School initiated an intense
on-the-job internship program for the teachers of
Billabong High International School,
Kelambakkam, Chennai from Sunday 28th April
to Thursday 2nd May 2019.
DPS-Modern Indian organized an orientation program for the parents of grade IX and X students on
recent changes in the CBSE Assessment structure. Ms. Ashraf Sultana, CBSE Coordinator appraised
the parents of the recent introduction of two levels of Mathematics paper which will help students to
opt either for the standard or Basic Mathematics course depending on their aptitude.
Ministry of Education conducted an online survey for the parents and students.
DPS-MIS initiated a charity drive during the Holy Month of Ramadan and the staff enthusiastically
participated in this thoughtful act and contributed for iftaar food packets, which were distributed
among the fishermen folk of Al Wakrah on 16 May, 2019.
Selected students and teachers from DPS MIS attended the inaugural ceremony of the Science Club
that would function as a part of ICC Qatar.
SIFQ announced the results of the Final Round
of Shastra Pratibha Contest 2019, held on 30th
May 2019 and Tejaswi Manoj –IX B bagged the
first runner up position.

DPS-MIS Girls’ bagged The Qatar School
Debate League Runner up Trophy 2019.
On 20th June, 2019, DPS-Modern School organized ‘AWARD CEREMONY’ to honour the meritorious
students of Grade X & XII (2018-19). 250 students from Grade X were awarded with trophies,
blue blazers, blue ties, gold &silver medals and merit certificates as a hallmark of true academic
genius, 100% attendance and all round performance.
DPS-Modern Indian School celebrated the 5th
International Yoga day with gusto and gaiety
from 16th June to 22 June 2019. A weeklong
activities were conducted to create awareness
about yoga and the students from Grade I to
Grade XII participated in them.
On 22nd June 2019, teaching and non- teaching staff of DPS Modern Indian School participated in
the Yoga session organized by Embassy of India at National Museum of Qatar. About 300 staff assembled at the venue by morning 4.45 and celebrated the International Day of Yoga by participating in the yoga session.
SPORTS CORNER….
Education is incomplete without sports and games. They
empower youth and promote higher self-esteem, mental
alertness and physical fitness. With an aim to provide a
well-rounded development to its students, DPS-MIS
provides a structured and thorough curriculum of sports
activities and equips them to compete at national and
international levels.
SOP selections were conducted during the month of April.
DPS-Modern Indian School bagged the overall
championship in the CBSE Qatar Cluster Chess Tournament
held at Birla Public School on April 30th & May 1st, 2019.
DPS–MIS chess champions bagged the first place in four
categories namely Under – 11, Under – 14 and Under – 19
for Boys and Under – 17 Girls. In Under-17 Boys, Under-
11 Girls and Under – 14 Girls, DPS-MIS dauntless players
secured the silver medals .Under – 19 Girls team secured
bronze medal.
