Google and Your Website

o How many times a day do you or someone around you ask a question and the answer is “Google it”?

o Could you imagine your day to day life without it?

o This quick presentation will open up your eyes to the usefulness of Google, as well as how much we rely on the Search Engine for our everyday lives!

The History of Googleo Google was originally known as ‘BackRub’ in 1995, a

Search Engine which ran on the servers of Stanford University

o BackRub was created by Larry Page and Sergey Brin and eventually ended up taking up too much bandwidth

o Therefore, in 1996 the domain name “Google.com” was created

o Google is actually a play on the word Googol, a mathematical term which describes the number 1 followed by 100 zeroes. It is reflective of their mission to be able to organise endless amounts of internet information

The History of Googleo Google created AdWords in October 2000, in which the

term “Pay Per Click” was introduced

o This means that if you were to create an advert for your website, it will appear on Google with the keywords provided and you will only have to pay each time the advert is clicked on

o If you research the history of Google, there are many other developments that they have engineered over the last 19 years, but where does SEO come into this?

Google and SEOo Google is the most popular search engine out there, with

YouTube being the second (even though Google owns it!)

o Business owners always want to take advantage of this and try to optimise their business as much as possible. This is where SEO service providers come in handy

o Even though Google’s AdWords may seem like a cheap and simple way to get your business on the first page of Google, it has been discovered that the majority of “Googlers” ignore the advertisements at the top and the sides of the page, and search through the organic results.

Get to the Top of Googleo If you want to get your website onto the first page of

Google, your best option is to invest in an SEO company

o At first, SEO may seem like a form of marketing you could do yourself. However, it can become overwhelming when you have to focus on other areas of your business too

o SEO companies, such as Urban Media, have the skills and expertise to do exactly what needs to be done, without wasting any time or money

o They will begin by selecting your key words and/or phrases and research them to determine what the public searches for and what words your competition are using

Get to the Top of Googleo Your competition is out of your hands, therefore making it

more of struggle if they are focusing on their SEO

o One solution would be to alter your search phrases, a concept that Urban Media can help with

o The process of SEO is on-going, it cant be done and then left for a year. It is vital that it is updated every month to keep up with the latest trends and your competitors’

o Again, this is a job for an SEO company, meaning you can leave it to them rather than adding it to your monthly “to do list” whilst trying to run your business

o The services of an SEO company are invaluable, and they will get your website to the top 10 results of a Google search
