Our process makes sure that those who are asking for our help are truly in need. We ask that our supporters provide the food items needed for the baskets. The turkeys have already been donated. We need the following: Boxed stuffing, canned vegetables, potatoes/boxed or fresh, sweet potatoes, gravy, (jar, can, pack), dinner rolls, disposable roasting pans, turkey roasting bags. This time of year, GSM receives many calls from our donors who are looking for ways to get involved over the holidays. We so appreciate your desire to serve and help those less fortunate. Because of the virus still lurking around, once again this year we are limiting the hands on work to our staff. However, we can use your help with providing the food items for Thanksgiving and the gifts for Christmas. Our coordinator this year is Mrs. Debbie Walkuw. She can be reached at 804-231-9995. There is also more information on our website at www.gsamministries.com. We hope that you will give these two opportunities prayer and thought. Thank you for your faithful giving and support. GIFTS OF HOPE Gifts of Hope is our annual adopt a GSM participant’s family event. While here with us, the men do not have the means to provide Christmas gifts for their families. This is a way you can help them do just that. GSM will provide you with the names and wish list for each family (wife & children living at home only) and then you shop. We ask that you wrap and identify the gifts and then drop them off by Wednesday, 12/22/21. Then at our Christmas Eve Service, the resident is given the gifts to give to his family. This is one of our favorite events...to witness the excitement of the children and see the smile on their Dad’s face. It truly is the heart of Christmas.

OPERATION DRUMSTICK Since 1990, GSM has offered a Thanksgiving Basket outreach to the community around us which focuses on needy

families with children who are still living in the home and those with additional difficulties during the holidays. Our

process makes sure that those who are asking for our help are truly in need. We ask that our supporters provide the

food items needed for the baskets. The turkeys have already been donated. We need the following: Boxed stuffing,

canned vegetables, potatoes/boxed or fresh, sweet potatoes, gravy, (jar, can, pack), dinner rolls, disposable roasting

pans, turkey roasting bags.

This time of year, GSM receives many calls from our donors who are looking for ways to get involved

over the holidays. We so appreciate your desire to serve and help those less fortunate. Because of the

virus still lurking around, once again this year we are limiting the hands on work to our staff. However,

we can use your help with providing the food items for Thanksgiving and the gifts for Christmas. Our

coordinator this year is Mrs. Debbie Walkuw. She can be reached at 804-231-9995. There is also

more information on our website at www.gsamministries.com. We hope that you will give these two

opportunities prayer and thought. Thank you for your faithful giving and support.

GIFTS OF HOPE Gifts of Hope is our annual adopt a GSM participant’s family event. While here with us, the men do not have the

means to provide Christmas gifts for their families. This is a way you can help them do just that. GSM will provide

you with the names and wish list for each family (wife & children living at home only) and then you shop. We ask that

you wrap and identify the gifts and then drop them off by Wednesday, 12/22/21. Then at our Christmas Eve

Service, the resident is given the gifts to give to his family. This is one of our favorite events...to witness the

excitement of the children and see the smile on their Dad’s face. It truly is the heart of Christmas.

To Richmond Window Corp. for selecting GSM to receive a donation from their employee Richmond Window Cares program

To GSM’s Board of Directors for their generosity in funding the Matching Gift Campaign 2021. It was another successful year for ministry. Thanks to all who contributed.

To the Bob and Anna Lou Schaberg Foundation for the grants which have allowed Good Samaritan to renovate the apartments which house our Phase II program residents and our employees. We have been painting, and upgrading the flooring, appliances, and lighting. We’ve also replaced the outdoor second floor stairs and the privacy fence.

A Message from Pastor Mike… Offering True Hope

Ephesians 2:12 “That at that

time ye were without Christ, being

aliens from the commonwealth of

Israel, and strangers from the

covenants of promise, having no

hope, and without God in the

world:” With the arrival of fall, our

thoughts turn to those who will

come to us for help for the

Holidays. Besides the everyday help

to those who come thought the

doors of GSM with addictions,

homelessness, and hopelessness.

We will be providing Thanksgiving

baskets, a Thanksgiving dinner, and

Gifts of Hope. Those who come to

us all have something in common,

it’s their need for hope. To me, true

hope begins when they first walk in

the doors of GSM and have the

opportunity to hear the gospel.

Being without Christ and without

God means they are without hope.

Oh yes, they have a false hope in

worldly things, such as money and

power and fame. But 99.9 percent

are disappointed even in things of

the world. The others are

disappointed when they grow old

This is the hope

we present to

everyone who

comes in the

doors of GSM.

1 Timothy 1:1 “Paul, an

apostle of Jesus Christ by the

commandment of God our Saviour,

and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our

hope.”

We can hope because "The

Lord Jesus Christ" is our Hope.

Think of that!! Our Savior is the

King of Kings and Lord of Lords. In

John 1:3 we read, “All things were

made by Him and without Him was not

anything that was made.” This

Omnipotent, Omnipresent God is

our Hope. The best part, it’s

available to all!!!

In His & Your Service,

Pastor Mike McClary

and cannot enjoy the world. The

hopelessness of the lost is set forth

in the account of the rich man and

Lazarus. Abraham tells the rich man

that hell’s only commodity is

hopelessness. Consider Luke 16:26:

“And beside all this, between us and

you there is a great gulf fixed: so

that they which would pass from

hence to you cannot; neither can

they pass to us, that would come

from thence.”

Colossians 1:27 “To whom

God would make known what is

the riches of the glory of this

mystery among the Gentiles; which

is Christ in you, the hope of glory:”

I have chosen this verse because

Christ is true hope. Without Him,

we would not have hope for

anything beyond this life. This verse

reminds us that Christ is IN US and

this knowledge brings us hope.

When we look at our lives and see

t h e i m p e r f e c t i o n , w e a r e

discouraged and lose hope. When

we look at Jesus knowing that He

loves us and dwells in us, we are

brought back to hope. This is the

A Promise to our Donors

We at Good Samaritan know that this time of year a majority of our donors are inundated with requests for

monetary help. Organizations asking for support seem to come out of the woodwork. While GSM is part of the

group asking for support, know that the organization we use for our mass appeals does not share your information

nor do we share your information with others. Our donor list is extremely important to us and we consider it

privileged information. As GSM receives no federal, state, or local government funding, we must rely on those

people who have a heart for what we do and who want to help further our work for the Kingdom. We never want

any of our donors to feel like they have to give. While we understand that multiple requests are often irritating, stop

and say a prayer for GSM and then toss the packet in the trash. We’re really okay with that! We’ve actually been

known to send back a donation or two when someone tells us that they have pressing needs. We never want

anyone to be hurt by giving. But remember that the Lord honors those who give over and beyond what they think

they can afford. He returns the blessings many times over.

Please accept our heartfelt thanks for your faithfulness in helping us keep our doors open for the past 35 years. We

make a great team...God, Good Samaritan, and You!
