With the dust up over Republican Presidential candidate Rick Santorums recent

Why would a politician attack pre-natal testing?

The Republican presidential hopeful didnt back down, arguing, [A] lot of pre-natal

tests are done to identify deformities in utero and the customary procedure is toencourage abortions.

Even for Santorum, this is low.

For one thing, medical experts know Santorums line is nonsense. As MSNBCs FirstRead explained, There is value in pre-natal testing, because it can detect potentialproblems in utero or at delivery and allow parents and doctors to get the proper carefor their child.

A few years ago, I attended a very large Catholic Church on a Sunday morning and,after the service was over, while I was standing outside on the front steps of the church

building, one ofthe parishioners, a young lady, approached me, introduced herself tome as Jennifer, and welcomed me to the church that day. Jennifer has DownSyndrome. No one else, out of the hundreds of parishioners who were there thatSunday morning, spoke to me.

So we cull the ranks of the disabled by screening out and aborting abnormal, imperfect,and unwanted people, like Jennifer, why?

On Face the Nation on CBS on Sunday, Santorum said he wasnt talking about thepresidents religious faith, but his liberal ideology. Ive repeatedly said I believe thepresident is a Christian, Santorum remarked.Hes says hes a Christian.
