How to set up your ‘I’m Awesome’ folder and/or electronic I’m Awesome’ folder.
● Hard copy ‘I’m Awesome’ folder
You could have a folder or scrap book and put all your work for your diploma in there. If you have anything
electronic e.g. videos, you could make a note in your folder of where it can be found. You could add photos of your
work as well as written evidence. Remember to make it look AWESOME!!!

● Electronic ‘I’m Awesome’ folder (‘e-I’m Awesome’ folder)
You could save all your work electronically in a folder on a memory stick and bring it into school in September.
You could save it in folders for each core activity and elective activities you have chosen. Be creative! You could
add videos and photos to make it look AWESOME!
You could also do a mixture of both, be creative, have fun and remember we want to see your best self!

Record of awesome activities -
● Biddenham recommended reading list – Year 6 into Year 7
This selection of books is a guide for children moving from Year 6 to Year 7. There are various genres to cover all
interests. These are not books studied at Biddenham, however, they are books that we recommend for many
reasons, including: gaining a knowledge of a variety of genres; preparing students for some of the themes we might
cover in year 7 and 8; and most importantly, developing reading ‘just for fun’.
As a guide, an approximate reading age has been included for each book simply to highlight reading difficulty.
That’s not to say that all books on the list cannot be read and enjoyed by all reading ages.
However, it is important to note that some of the books contain mature themes; we recommend you use your
discretion to select books that are suitable for your child.
Top Tips
● The more you read the better reader you become.
● If you enjoy an author read all the other books they have written.
● Look for books in your favourite genre but don’t be afraid to try something different.
● If you’ve enjoyed a book recommend it to your friends
● Give books a chance- you usually have to read at least 30 pages to get into a book.

● Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time - Mark Haddon - A genuine cult classic. A boy with autism
investigates the “murder” of his neighbour’s dog. Funny, original and moving. A gentle novel, however, please be
aware of the text’s use of swearing.
● Life of Pi - Yann Martel - Very accessible Booker Prize winner concerning oceanic, fantasy like, wanderings of a boy
stranded at sea on a raft with some animals.
● The Book Thief - Marcus Zusak - One of my favourite ever books. Death takes an interest in an orphaned little girl.
This Nazi Germany set novel is seeped deep in humanity and compassion.
● Animal Farm - George Orwell - The animals of Manor Farm find the pigs as nasty as the humans. One of the 20th
century’s leading political satires.

Lockdown Life
“Stay at home and stay safe!” our leaders profess;
“Protect and sustain our NHS!”
The schools are all closed; pubs and shops shut their doors,
Panic shoppers clear shelves - they’re out in their hordes.
Police on patrol - ‘social distance’ is key:
Your ‘household’ the only ones you can see.
‘Self-isolation’ for fevers or coughs.
Fears measures are either too harsh or too soft.
But through all this madness and panic and change
And worry and fear that this new world’s so strange
The Spring sun brings with it the candle of Hope
Affirmation, assurance that yes, we can cope.
Because out of the chaos of panic and strife
Climbs a calmer existence; a simpler life.
And stories of selflessness, kindness and warmth
Shine out through the darkness of negative storms.
The thousands of ‘furloughed’ that answered the call
Volunteering as ‘key workers,’ taking the fall.
Captain Tom and the millions raised with his frame
The clapping on doors - healthcare’s weekly acclaim.

Physical Education - Activity 1: Tour de France.
This challenge sees you take on one of the most iconic sporting events in the world!
You will be taking on the Tour De France which is 2200 miles long! The event usually takes 21 days
but how long will it take you.
The Tour is broken down into 21 stages so you will need to complete all of the stages and activities
in order to complete the 2200 repetition course! Can you reach 2200 repetitions? Remember you can
swap in your own exercises if you like in the last column!
