Low Working Temperature

Export Classification: EAR99

All of the electrolyte is made in house at SIC-SAFCO. Solvents used are mixed with ionic compounds to reach the lowest freezing point. SIC-SAFCO is able today to offer electrolyte freezing at lower than -60°C (-76°F) for each capacitor even with different rated voltages from 10V to 630V. This point is particularly important for airborne applications outside of pressured areas, where the outside temperature is often -60°C. Capacitors with climatic category -40°C or -25°C can work at -60°C but the problem appears when the equipment is coming back to ground level. Electrolyte can still contain frozen particles. These frozen particles are weak points leading to possible voltage breakdown. SIC-SAFCO capacitors with climatic categories -55°C do not have this weakness and can be used even with many repetitive quick changes of altitude (Fighter Aircrafts).

• Area A: is enlarged by roughening the anode (~ 30 - 120 x)

• Distance d: oxide layer very thin (~ 1.4 nm/V)

• Electrolyte / Electrode: fluid second plate of the

-For UR ≤ 100V, storage time :…………………….. 5 years

- If storage temperature max 40°C…………………. 10 years

- For 100V < UR ≤ 350V storage time :…………….. 3 years

- For 350V < UR< 500V storage time :…………….. 1 year

- For UR ≥ 500V, storage time :…………………….. 6 months

Generally when these periods are overstepped, one hour at rated voltage causes the decrease of leakage current under the specified limits. Please refer to the curve on page 18 § 8.2 of our catalog.
