GLOBAL CLIMATIC CHANGE

GLOBAL CLIMATE CHANGE A MAIN CONCERN FOR ALL LIVING BEINGS AS IT IS CHANGING THE LIVING CONDITIONS OF EARTH

Page 3: Global climatic change

WHAT IS GLOBAL CLIMATIC CHANGE?

Climate change is a change in the statistical distribution of weather patterns when that change lasts for an extended period of time (i.e., decades to millions of years).

Climate change occurs when the patterns change in time (e.g., winter months get warmer) and space (e.g., monsoon rains occur further south).

Page 4: Global climatic change

CAUSES OF CHANGE IN CLIMATE

1. Excessive reduction in natural vegetation2. Increase in emission of carbon dioxide and other harmful

gases.3. Positive growth of demography.4. Excessive use of fossils & fuels

According to Critchfield ‘Due to this causes process of acclimatization is taking place.’ It is the main concern of physiologists as change is forcing people to adapt those conditions which is not suitable to them.

INDICATORS OF GLOBAL CLIMATIC CHANGE

Richard Houghton & George Woodwell says “THE WORLD IS WARMING, CLIMATIC ZONES ARE SHIFTING. THESE ARE NOT SCIENCE FICTION MOVIE EVENTS BUT CHANGES ARE ALREADY TAKING PLACE WE EXPECT IT TO ACCELERATE OVER NEXT YEARS IN ATMOSPHERE THROUGH HUMAN ACTIVITIES” Well these words suggests some indications towards the change which is slowly taking place, and it’s a matter of concern.

INDICATORS1. Melting of ice sheets.2. Increase in global temperature3. Extinction in species of flora &

fauna.4. Unpredictable weather

conditions. 5. Imbalanced ecosystem.6. Detoriating health conditions.7. Poor condition of our natural

resources.8. Acid rains

BY SEEING ALL THIS TYPE OF NATURE CHANGE AND SLOW DEGRADATION OF OUR ENVIRONMENT HERE WE CAN SEE AN EXAMPLE :

Page 11: Global climatic change

BANGLADESH: TARA’S STORY The monsoon rains are

much worse. There is a lot of flooding and this destroys my crops. It’s hard to feed my family.

We have had to move house seven times to get away from the floods.

Then in the summer there are long droughts when everything is dry.

MEASURES TO CONTROL CLIMATE CHANGE

1. We can practice more of afforestation & reforestation.

2. In dense cities with good public transport, we can help keeping down the carbon emissions.

3. Replacement of old & outdated technologies to reduce power consumption.

4. Avoid the wastage of electricity.

Page 13: Global climatic change

5. Using of biodegradable elements.6. Using various renewable resources for power generations.7.Promoting the idea of 3R i.e. reduce, reuse & recycle.

Page 14: Global climatic change

IS IT POSSIBLE

1. To restrict all the anthropogenic causes which contributes for carbon emissions?

2. To stop all kinds of industries which provides employment?

3. That only anthropogenic factors contribute for global climate change?

Page 15: Global climatic change

CONCLUSION

Well, answer will be no for all the question arising. Until we adopt the sustainable development for surviving of humanity and be eco- friendly the problem of climate change is not possible. Change & development is important but it should be in welfare to all of us.
